Skills and Competencies

• 3-5 years of experience in at least one modern object-oriented language such as Java, Python, or C#/.NET.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating backend or platform services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, performance, and reliability principles.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience building and deploying applications in the cloud, preferably AWS.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous learning and problem-solving.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services that form the core of Moody’s cloud-native SaaS platform.

• Design, develop, and operate critical backend services, APIs, and data processing systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code in Java, Python, and/or C#/.NET.
• Solve complex technical challenges related to distributed systems, concurrency, and performance at scale.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate functional requirements into robust technical designs.
• Participate in architectural discussions and code reviews to elevate engineering standards.
• Own the full software development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform architecture and propose practical, scalable solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, security, and observability.
• Communicate technical decisions and project status clearly to stakeholders and partner teams.

The Platform Engineering team at Moody’s Insurance Solutions builds the foundational services, infrastructure, and developer tools that power our modern SaaS products. The team accelerates product development by enabling scalability, reliability, and high-quality delivery, acting as a force multiplier for product engineering teams across the organization.
