We're looking for a dynamic Senior R&D Engineer to join our cutting-edge Advanced Product Development team. What You Will Do:
- Lead Collaborative Innovation: Partner with cross-functional teams to share insights, exchange ideas, and drive the design of next-generation products and processes. You'll act as a key liaison, ensuring seamless communication across departments.
- Design Impactful Solutions: Take ownership of major components and advanced prototypes, delivering designs that push the boundaries of engineering while improving product performance and operational efficiency.
- Elevate Design Quality: Lead Design Reviews, presenting your innovative designs to ensure their viability, functionality, and alignment with project goals. You'll ensure that each design meets the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
- Mentor and Develop Talent: Share your expertise by mentoring engineers at all levels. You'll guide them through complex problems, fostering both their technical growth and professional development.
- Drive Problem Solving: Tackle tough design challenges head-on. With your deep technical expertise, you'll recommend solutions that optimize efficiency and effectiveness, keeping projects on track and within scope.
- Optimize for Success: Design with a focus on cost-effectiveness, driving opportunities for savings while ensuring that product performance and project profitability remain a top priority.
- Influence Product Strategy: Lead the creation of design concepts, criteria, and engineering plans for product research, development, integration, and testing. Your work will be foundational to our product roadmap.
- Lead Projects: Manage moderately-sized projects, overseeing timelines, resources, and deliverables. You’ll be empowered to take charge, ensuring that teams remain aligned and on schedule.
- Subject-Matter Expert: Serve as the go-to expert within your discipline, providing valuable insights and guidance on complex technical matters. Your deep understanding will shape how we approach engineering challenges.
- Ensure Excellence: Identify potential project risks and proactively implement robust, timely solutions to keep projects moving forward without compromising quality or timelines.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products
- Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 2D/3D CAD software
- Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Management (PDM) tools
- Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
- Experience with kaizen workshops or other lean activities
- Experience with updating or authoring standard work and processes
- Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)requirements
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
- Experience with Top Down Design methodology
- Prior research & development experience for similar products is a strong desire

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
