In February 2016, off the coast of North Carolina, a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew executed a daring rescue mission, plucking four fishermen from the clutches of a relentless storm. This harrowing operation required unparalleled skill, precision, and leadership under immense pressure. It also demanded a reliable system that each crew member trusted with their lives to safely operate in such extreme conditions.
As an engineering leader in our organization, you will have a direct impact on the outcome of missions like this and many others carried out by military customers across the globe. Specifically, you will lead teams that develop the most sophisticated and trusted avionics systems in the world. Your leadership will ensure that our technology performs flawlessly in the most critical moments, enabling heroes to save lives.
Are you ready to join our team and make a difference where it truly matters?
What You Will Learn:
The Military Avionics and Helicopters Flight Management and Controls department is currently seeking qualified candidates to lead a software development team (Sr. Engineering Manager). This team works in a collaborative environment on military projects to develop the right solution for our customers and their mission. The team provides engineering services to include requirements definition and analysis, software design, development, integration, test, verification, validation, and certification of software products that are normally found in a modern avionics suite.
More specifically, we develop software applications for numerous military Rotary Wing (RW) and Fixed Wing (FW) programs. Our applications are primarily focused on aiding the crew in navigation, but we also support the aircraft maintainer. Examples of the functions we develop are flight management/flight planning, navigation/guidance, and flight director. In addition, we develop functions for Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) management, health monitoring/status and data load.
Our teams are organized around SAFe agile in the form of a multi-function/multi-program Agile Release Train (ART). Our software development process is based on DO-178, but often does not require full compliance to civil certification guidance. From a global trade perspective our applications are often classified as ITAR and therefore only U.S. Persons can apply.
