Our vision with the Product Insights and Measurement Strategy team is to provide a coherent and holistic assessment of product performance across Expedia Group! We drive and facilitate a swift move towards a suite of common measurement for both behavioural and experiential metrics.

Business Contribution/Impact: This team leads product performance and customer experience related strategic analytics, ensuring that top level understanding of customer journey performance and the resulting decisions are grounded in sound data and analytics principles. This results in simplification, efficiency improvement, consistency and clear accountability on product performance measurement.

In this role, you will:

As a Senior Manager within the team, you will be a leadership figure dedicated to shared success and committed to achieving excellence, guiding both junior and senior analysts. You will manage work across distinct domains and capability, collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders. You will aspire to foster a high-performing and efficiently managed team with a focus on delivering high-quality results. Additionally, you should consistently offer constructive feedback and mentorship to enhance analytical skillsets within the immediate and broader team and lead on creating a strong team culture within our Bangalore Product Analytics team.

You will lead a team of Data Scientists to:

  • Monitor and understand the first layer of drivers of product performance across our brands and product lines, collaborating closely with our team of SMEs when investigations and deep dives are required.

  • Validate and surface product insights and customer experience signals and impact to our Product partners to be actioned and shared across the business.

  • Drive a common suite of measurements for product, combining funnel data with customer experience signals and qualitative data.

  • Ensure continuous improvements are made to our approach to diagnostics and storytelling.

  • Communicate across various levels of the organization; able to influence partners and senior leaders with relevant information. This will also include contributing to the team culture by spreading passion and encouraging goodwill towards the department.

  • Pick analytically valid approaches, appropriate in terms of level of effort, favouring iterative delivery that solves for the objective, not the ask (i.e. not just order-taking).

  • Build an environment for team efficiency, where strengths are known and built upon and learning is shared to build capacity.

  • Determine a suitable method for the problem considering underlying assumptions.

  • Display advanced domain (i.e. travel, online retail) knowledge, understanding the underlying business objectives and critical reasoning skills.

Experience and qualifications:
  • PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s (pref for Mathematics or Scientific degree) with 4-7 years work experience OR 7+ years of experience in a comparable data analytics role with relevant experience

  • 2-4 years of managing analytical teams including coaching and contributing to talent development planning.

  • Demonstrable experience in guiding and reviewing teams’ data-driven insights and recommendations in order to drive change or performance improvement for stakeholders through multiple projects using different analytics techniques.

  • Creative and analytical in thinking with a love for data, to both disagree with and convince senior partners backed by data.

  • Deliver work for defined domain/capability areas.

  • Collaborate with senior management and partnered product, development and data science partners to deliver a portfolio of work and a high performing, well managed and talented team.
