Job Purpose

The M&A / Corporate Strategy Intern is an entry-level, developmental role designed to support EnerSys’ Corporate Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) function. This role provides hands-on exposure to strategic analysis, financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and post-merger integration activities. Working closely with the Director of Corporate Strategy & M&A and cross-functional partners, the intern will contribute analytical support to help evaluate growth opportunities, inform investment decisions, and support enterprise-level strategic initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support financial and strategic analysis related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and organic growth initiatives.
  • Assist with building and maintaining financial models, including valuation analyses (DCF, comparable companies, transaction multiples) and scenario analyses.
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research across energy, industrial, and technology enabled businesses.
  • Support preparation of business cases, investment theses, and presentation materials for executive leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in due diligence activities by gathering, organizing, and analyzing financial, operational, and strategic data.
  • Support post merger integration efforts, including tracking milestones, synergy assumptions, and performance metrics.
  • Help maintain organized, auditable documentation to support M&A and strategy processes.
  • Participate in meetings and working sessions with Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, and external advisors to gain exposure to cross functional collaboration.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of M&A tools, templates, and playbooks.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, intellectual curiosity, discretion, and attention to detail in all deliverables.

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field (strong academic performance preferred).
  • Demonstrated interest in corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, investment analysis, or corporate finance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and business data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; exposure to financial modeling preferred.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, well structured outputs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Reliable, detail oriented, and eager to learn in a fast paced, professional environment.
 
PREFERRED:
  • Relevant coursework in corporate finance, valuation, accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with academic or professional projects involving financial modeling, valuation, or industry analysis.
  • Familiarity with data analysis or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Bloomberg) is a plus.
  • Interest in industrial, energy, manufacturing, or technology enabled businesses.
