Job Details

This strategic senior-level position plays a critical role in ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of the bank's financial books and records. The Lead Analyst will leverage deep subject matter expertise to manage and control data flows within Finance applications, oversee financial transactions for regulatory and legal entity reporting, and drive efforts in general ledger reconciliation, profit attribution, and comprehensive product P&L and balance sheet reporting. This role requires a recognized technical authority with strong commercial awareness, influencing skills, and the ability to operate with significant autonomy, particularly within the specialized area of Treasury's investment portfolio.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the management and control of data flows to and within Finance applications, ensuring the integrity and completeness of financial data.
  • Oversee the preparation and recording of financial transactions for legal entity and regulatory reporting purposes, including updating the general ledger and preparing consolidated financial statements.
  • Manage specialized accounting functions, such as equity compensation, securitization, payroll, and investment accounting, with a focus on areas like Investment Securities, Bond, MBS - Mortgage Backed Securities, and UST - US Treasury Notes.
  • Take responsibility for the accurate reporting of accounting Reconciliations on Citi reporting tools and review key controls across multiple processes.
  • Provide daily P&L reporting, conduct E-recon activities, perform price/valuation verification, and execute impairment Analysis for Corporate Treasury's investment portfolio, including fixed-income securities, repos, and foreign currency denominated securities.
  • Analyze trade information to ensure proper reporting of portfolio P&L and balance sheet, and accurately categorize product information for regulatory reporting, including 10Q and 10K filings.
  • Contribute to directional strategy by providing expert advice on the application of financial concepts and procedures, anticipating business impact.
  • Act as a technical expert, advising on significant business and product decisions and resolving complex issues that impact beyond the immediate area.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including legal entity managers, Country Controllers, Balance Sheet Control Group (BSCG), Global Process Leads (GPL), and Global Process Owners (GPO) across multiple locations, communicating progress and identifying/escalating potential issues.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed, contribute to defining accounting standards, and partner with audit teams to monitor controls and accuracy of Accounting.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Provide ad hoc data and Analysis requests from the Treasury business and senior management.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

  • Strong accounting knowledge with exposure to the record-to-report process.
  • Experience with investment securities, including fixed income instruments such as U.S. Government bonds, mortgage-backed securities (MBS), and U.S. Treasury notes; familiarity with concepts such as OCI (Other Comprehensive Income) is beneficial.
  • Exposure to Product Control functions, product processors (e.g., GTPL), and valuation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg or other market data services.
  • Advanced desktop skills, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office—particularly Excel—and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and execute effective action plans.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising sound judgment and autonomy.
  • Experience managing or supervising small teams is a plus.
  • Professional certifications or advanced credentials (e.g., CPA, CA, MBA) or equivalent professional experience.
