About the role

About The Team

The Home Loans Analytics team sits at the center of Zillow’s mission to make home a reality for more people by powering data‑driven decisions across our mortgage business. We partner closely with Sales, Operations, Product, and Engineering to understand how customers move through Zillow’s mortgage origination funnel and to identify opportunities to improve both their experience and our performance. Our work shapes strategy, optimizes operations, and helps more customers successfully finance their homes.

About The Role

As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will use data and analytical methods to drive high‑impact decisions for our Sales and Operations teams in the Zillow Home Loans business. You will own analyses that uncover opportunities to increase conversion and improve efficiency in Zillow’s mortgage origination funnel, helping more customers successfully finance their homes. You will partner with leaders across Sales, Operations, Product, and Engineering to shape the analytics roadmap, define the research agenda, and ensure your insights lead to concrete strategic and operational changes in the business.

You Will Get To

  • Define, measure, and report on success metrics for complex projects and pilots to evaluate performance and guide decision‑making.

  • Use data to identify high‑impact opportunities to improve sales performance, operational efficiency, and customer outcomes across the mortgage origination funnel.

  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Product leaders to translate business challenges into analytic questions and deliver actionable, data‑driven recommendations.

  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to identify necessary data sources and provide clear requirements for datasets and data models needed for analytical use cases.

  • Work closely with internal customers to understand and refine requirements, designing analytic solutions that creatively solve complex business problems.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5–10 years of experience in an analytical role, using data to inform business decisions.

  • Experience communicating complex concepts to non‑technical stakeholders, with strong business acumen and the ability to connect customer problems to business strategy.

  • Strong bias for action, including applying the 80/20 rule to prioritize high‑impact analyses and estimate the impact and relative priority of potential projects.

  • Ability to independently design and communicate an analytical roadmap to peers and senior stakeholders.

  • Deep, intuitive understanding of core statistical concepts (e.g., probability, randomness, correlation, sampling distributions).

  • Expert in SQL and business intelligence/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau); experience with scripting and automation (such as Python or similar) is preferred.
