Skills and Competencies
- 5+ years’ experience in data driven strategy, FP&A, sales strategy, or management consulting roles, with a proven track record of delivering planning and deployment solutions in complex, matrixed organizations
- Strong experience building and maintaining robust financial and analytical models using large, complex data sets
- Experience working in or directly supporting Sales organisations strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to partner with Sales to drive improved forecast accuracy, pipeline health, and incremental revenue outcomes
- Strong communicator at all levels, with experience presenting to and influencing executive stakeholders. Ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and collaborate effectively across functions
- Comfortable leading change initiatives and raising the bar on execution discipline. Highly organised, self directed, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast moving environment. Analytical and structured thinker with the ability to connect strategy, data, and execution
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Analytics, or a related field required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred
Responsibilities
The Sales Strategist will support the Moody’s Analytics Regional Sales Leadership Team in identifying and executing growth opportunities aligned with Global strategic initiatives. This role partners closely with Sales, Finance, and Business Units to define and deliver scalable go to customer strategies, sales territories, targets, and performance insights, while driving execution discipline across the region.
Strategic Planning
- Leverage research and advanced modelling techniques using public and internal data sources to develop fact based recommendations for go to market strategy
- Adapt global strategic priorities to reflect regional and country specific market dynamics, ensuring relevance and executability at the local level
- Partner with Business Units to ensure strategic initiatives (e.g. new solutions, priority segments, growth plays) are translated into clear, actionable inputs for regional deployment and targeting decisions
Opportunity Identification & Market Analysis
- Segment and analyse customer and prospect data to identify opportunities for new customer acquisition, cross sell, and expansion within existing accounts
- Quantify total addressable market and whitespace opportunities by segment, solution, and geography, and track progress against opportunity capture
- Coordinate with cross functional teams (Marketing, Product, Customer Success, Finance) to ensure opportunity sizing and prioritisation are consistent and actionable
Deployment Planning & Targeting
- Informed by market research, strategic planning outputs, and global direction, partner with Regional Sales Leadership to design sales deployment models that create scale and maximise revenue
- Own territory construction and quota/target setting as part of the annual planning and modelling cycle, ensuring alignment to budget, coverage principles, and productivity assumptions
- Act as a ‘critical friend’ to Sales and Finance by reviewing and challenging underlying economic assumptions (market growth, share capture, macro trends) embedded in deployment and target models
- Ensure strategic initiatives are appropriately filtered into local territory design and target allocation, rather than remaining abstract or centrally defined
Forecasting, Funnel Management & Sales Cadence Ownership
- Own the regional forecast cadence, including hosting and shaping funnel and forecast calls with Sales leadership and frontline management
- Partner with Sales Managers to improve forecast accuracy and pipeline quality by embedding strong sales management techniques (e.g. deal hygiene, stage discipline, coverage ratios, risk identification)
- Use data to challenge optimism bias, surface gaps early, and drive corrective actions in under covered or at risk segments
- Track and influence leading indicators of performance (pipeline creation, conversion, ageing, slippage) to drive incremental revenue and reduce downside risk
Performance Reporting & KPIs
- Report on actual and forecast performance versus strategic intent, budget, and deployment goals at regional and sub regional level
- Develop and maintain a balanced set of lead and lag KPIs to diagnose performance, predict outcomes, and inform management action
- Translate complex performance data into clear, executive ready insights that support decision making and prioritisation
