Job Details
The Freight Procurement Manager, EMEA, should enhance total value obtained from the Freight and Logistics supply base by leading innovation, standardization and carrier rationalization across the region. This role will be responsible for managing the strategic direction of regional and international freight and logistics procurement and ensuring harmonization of policies and procedures. The leader will work closely with regional stakeholders to align on business objectives to deliver value and cost savings. The Freight Procurement Manager, EMEA is responsible for negotiating commercial terms and implementing procurement agreements with carriers. This role is based on sustained delivery of business results, including supply assurance, cost, quality, service and innovation. The position will be located in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, reporting to the Director Global Indirect Procurement based in Mentor, Ohio.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure global strategies are followed while leading regional freight procurement initiatives.
- Serve and contribute as key member of the Global Freight Procurement Team.
- Segment, rationalize and develop a diverse carrier base.
- Analyze business Intel for bench marking and market projections to drive strategic procurement activities. Be the subject matter expert and be strategic.
- Assist in development of visible carrier KPIs and overall performance dashboard.
- Analyze and react to market rates lane by lane, carrier by carrier.
- Manage Regional Carrier Engagement meetings.
- Improve supplier qualification and performance management practices.
- Execute the Global Freight Procurement Strategy throughout the region.
- Participate in global freight council and share best practices with the global team.
- Improve cooperation across geographic and organizational boundaries by identifying barriers and working with regional transportation managers and Director, Global Freight Procurement to eliminate barriers.
- Partner with and influence internal business partners from project initiation through project closure to ensure early involvement and optimal use of procurement and supplier tools, processes, systems and best practices.
- Drive Global Freight Procurement's initiatives at the regional level and ensure implementation of and compliance with negotiated contracts and service level agreements.
- Ensure regional adherence to global standard operating procedures (SOP's), workflows, and processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead successful sourcing strategies and manage the TCO of goods & services.
- Initiate and manage RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and related project plans as required.
- Conduct carrier analysis, evaluate potential new carriers, and manage the overall carrier qualification process, as required.
- Lead carrier risk management initiatives, along with Continuous Improvement and Lean activities.
- Identify and deliver cost savings opportunities within the region.
- With assistance of cross-divisional team, develop method of objectively measuring and scoring the performance of each supplier.
- Support procure-to-pay and audit processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or Engineering) required, Master's degree a plus.
- 5-7 years work experience in procurement, preferably in freight procurement.
- Additional experience in logistics, supply chain management, strategic sourcing or other areas of procurement a plus.
- Self-starter, able to drive projects to conclusion and work effectively with a variety of people at various levels within the company.
- Demonstrated success implementing procurement policies, processes, tools and initiatives on a regional and/or line of business basis.
- Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to manage/lead multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in handling diverse and complex sourcing transactions, negotiations, and contractual responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success facilitating and influencing positive change with internal business partners; must have a strong customer service orientation and high business acumen.
- Technology driven and ability to leverage Procurement and eSourcing tools.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Google sheets, docs and slides.
- SAP or Oracle and Ariba proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally. (Travel will vary, estimated 5-20%).
- Multi-lingual a plus.
- Unquestioned integrity and ethics.
