Job Description

Your responsibilities:

  • Professional and disciplinary leadership of a Medical Excellence & Operations team with two direct full-time equivalents
  • Direct reporting to the Head of Medical Excellence & Operations
  • Office location is Wiesbaden (3 days/week), 2 flexible days
  • Ensure compliance of all Medical Excellence & Operations activities with AbbVie processes, ethics, regulatory requirements, and applicable law
  • Implementation of local Medical Excellence strategy and further development of processes and standards to ensure sustainable excellence of infield teams
  • Proactive co-design and implementation of global strategies in a cross-functional environment; close collaboration with Headquarters, CEX, BTS, and Therapeutic Areas
  • Leadership and execution of digital transformation projects (e.g., internet presence, multi-/omnichannel communication, capability building for medical teams)
  • Monitoring and evaluation of market trends and derivation of strategic recommendations, including implementation planning
  • Strategic consulting for local and global leadership on medical projects, especially within the FutureFit program
  • Development and tracking of KPIs (SMART outcome measures) in close coordination with senior leadership and therapeutic areas
  • Leadership, promotion, and development of team members, as well as management of joint goal achievement and change processes
  • Responsibility for cost control and budget compliance of all activities

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop highly qualified teams
  • Successful leadership experience in matrix organizations and stakeholder management
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, openness to new approaches, and ability to manage multiple projects in parallel
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Independent, proactive, and solution-oriented working style; skill in integrating diverging interests
  • High level of organizational talent, implementation strength, and goal orientation
  • Strong commitment to compliance, scientific integrity, and quality standards
  • Passion for digital trends (Digital Native)
  • Solid scientific understanding of AbbVie’s products and sound business acumen

Education / Knowledge

  • Completed (preferably scientific/medical) university degree, ideally with a doctorate (e.g., MD/PhD)
  • In-depth knowledge of drug development and clinical research
  • Very good English and German language skills, spoken and written
  • Solid experience in project management and office software, as well as industry-specific tools
  • Experience with budget responsibility
  • Strong familiarity with AbbVie and its integrated brand planning approach

Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a comparable role
  • Proven experience in successful stakeholder and relationship management
  • Several years of leadership experience including project management, planning, budgeting, and process-defined work
  • Experience in Medical Affairs and a deep understanding of infield roles in the pharmaceutical industry
