Expedia Group Advertising builds the platforms and experiences that connect advertisers with millions of travelers across the globe. Our mission is to help partners reach the right traveler with the right message at the right time — through intuitive advertiser experiences, high-performance ad delivery systems, and intelligent, AI-powered optimization. We are growing our Advertiser Experience engineering team and are looking for a talented, product-minded Senior Software Development Engineer who is excited to build thoughtful advertiser-facing experiences and the backend services that power them. You will help shape the next generation of our advertising marketplace, working at the intersection of user experience, scalable distributed systems, and generative AI.
In this role, you will:
Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of backend APIs and distributed services that power high-quality UI experiences, delivering trust, transparency, scalability, and performance to our partners
Own and drive the architecture of core services supporting campaign management and optimization across Expedia Group’s advertising network, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar on reliability and operational excellence
Lead the application of LLMs and generative AI to streamline advertiser workflows, enhance campaign setup experiences, and automate repetitive operational tasks at scale
Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to integrate personalized recommendations, smart defaults, and AI-assisted decision support
Lead cross-functional collaboration with product, UX, data science, and engineering teams to define, build, and deliver solutions that produce measurable impact for advertisers
Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, AI systems, automated testing, and observability
Lead and influence operational reviews, using data and incident learnings to drive systemic improvements in reliability, performance, and operational maturity
Mentor and develop engineers across levels, providing technical guidance, code review leadership, and design feedback to consistently raise the team’s technical bar
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or 6+ year for Master's in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
Experience driving the end-to-end technical design of multiple complex, multi-quarter projects
Experience developing features in full-stack technologies – Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, React, GraphQL or similar technologies, API development
Experience collaborating with business partners to identify problems and deliver technical solutions that meet their needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience formally mentoring and developing other engineers
Experience justifying and communicating technology choices to both technical and non-technical audiences
A strong understanding of testing and monitoring, with experience establishing operational excellence metrics at the team level
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
