Job Description

Visa’s purpose is to uplift everyone, everywhere by being the best way to pay and be paid.  We power the digital economy, making payments and money movement simpler, safer, faster and more accessible for all.  And in doing so, we drive economic growth and prosperity for individuals, communities, and businesses around the world.  The technology underpinning Visa and its products and the team building and supporting it, is critical to this success.

The Vice President, Global Technology Communications will develop, oversee, and cascade globally the story of Visa’s technology and innovation with the intent of attracting great talent and enhancing the company reputation.  The VP is responsible for the coordination and management of external and internal communications programs across all markets and will manage the execution in North America.  This includes comprehensive storytelling collateral, traditional and social media campaigns, and stakeholder education delivered via a mix of channels including events and speaking engagements.

In this role, the VP will be a trusted advisor to the CTO and be an active partner to their leadership team, providing counsel and strategic guidance.  Key competencies for this role include an ability to build trust, connect dots within the business, and communicate openly. The VP will manage a team of communications professionals as part of a broader global communications function.  The role will manage a wide range of stakeholders by building a strong network of colleagues across functions and geographies.

The VP of Global Technology Communications will have a talent for uncovering and developing newsworthy stories and be able to sell it in to key stakeholders. The more the VP enjoys taking complex or seemingly dry information and turning it into a compelling story that a wide range of audiences can engage with, the more they will love this job. Most importantly, they must have a desire to learn and a willingness to apply that learning every day! We want a flexible thinker, able to make decisions based on limited or changing information and be able to adapt plans at the speed of a news cycle.

The Technology organization is the largest within Visa and critical to achieving our product revenue goals.  The VP must put employee communications at the forefront of every campaign, every news opportunity and every organization event.  They will partner closely with the head of Global Product Communications to co-develop internal events that demonstrate creativity, innovation and offer an engaging and unexpected experience worthy of these high-performing teams.

The candidate will:

  • Proactively develop, manage and sell the Technology story globally.
  • Manage the execution of programs in the US.
  • Elevate the voice of our CTO through social communications, speaking engagements and thought leadership campaigns
  • Partner closely with the Technology leadership team and the Product Communications team to build a comprehensive go to market strategy and collectively develop creative ways of telling Visa’s larger future of commerce story with a focus on technology like Generative AI.
  • Support business development by ensuring the Technology and GenAI story is embedded in narratives, product comms, executive speaking events, RFPs and client engagement activity.
  • Ensure the Technology story becomes a core part of the employee vernacular.
  • Build global toolkits that become the go-to resource center for regional communications colleagues to ensure a consistent and cohesive Technology story around the globe.
  • Partner with and support regional colleagues to help them localize the global Technology narrative.

The Vice President, Global Technology Communications, will report to the global head of Product, Technology and Brand Communications and will sit on the global Communications leadership team.   The role has three direct reports and is based in San Francisco.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
