Role Overview

The Director of Investigations role for the UK/Europe and Middle East Africa clusters is a senior manager role overseeing investigations posing significant regulatory and reputational risk to Citi. The role will lead and direct several investigators responsible for conducting professional and independent investigations of employee misconduct as well as significant external fraud matters facing the firm.


What you'll do:

  • Participate in establishing and enhancing the overall Global Investigations Program for the coverage region
  • Define the strategy, model, and approach for escalation, response, policy development, data quality, reporting, and compliance
  • Act as a strategic business partner and key advisor to create an effective interaction model that incorporates the full fraud cycle of protection, investigation, and prevention
  • Ensure that all allegations of fraud and misconduct, code of conduct, and ethics violations are properly investigated and managed in a professional and consistent manner in accordance with established internal investigative procedures
  • Work with regional in-business partners to implement appropriate controls and measures to protect company staff, assets, business operations, and intellectual property
  • Support investigations of cyber security incidents and network intrusions and oversee timely reports of findings
  • Supervise proactive, complex, high profile and sensitive core and cyber investigations with the goal of directing cases to conclusion and providing timely root cause findings to business and functional partners
  • Direct and manage staffing activities: hiring, establishing performance expectations/goals/objectives, managing staff performance, disciplinary actions, terminations, promotions and staff compensation decisions
  • Support methods for information sharing of investigative and industry trends, techniques, protocols, and training on investigative processes
  • Serve as an active member of the senior investigative team with input in the overall strategic direction and decision making for the investigative function
  • Manage budget, year-end compensation pool, and expense approvals.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local regulatory bodies, law enforcement, intelligence agencies, financial institutions, and industry professional associations and keep abreast of the local and international investigations and regulatory environments
  • Ensure the identification and timely escalation of regulatory matters to the appropriate entities
  • Provide professional briefings on specific investigations to senior leadership and regulators


What we need from you:

  • Significant experience, including proven managerial experience
  • Previously managed teams of investigative professionals, and resources
  • Established effective relationships with senior business leaders and internal partners
  • Managed complex investigative cases projects with global consequences as well as potential civil and criminal implications
  • Evaluated, reviewed, developed, and implemented investigations processes to effectively address process and technique changes as needed in their role
  • Demonstrated a clear understanding of investigation techniques and the ability to share those insights appropriately with others
  • Has detailed understanding of all basic investigative concepts including report writing, strategic forecasting, conducting lessons learned and regional expertise
  • Demonstrated understanding of threats facing corporations and/or financial institutions (e.g., financial crimes, cyber threats, global impact threats, etc.)
  • Experience with e-discovery tools, forensic accounting, and data analytics
  • Professional certifications
  • Domestic and International travel
  • Flexibility to work on call off hours/weekends during critical project phases if necessary


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent potentially Master’s degree and managerial experience
