Mixed Methods User Experience Researcher II (AI Experiences)

We’re looking for a Mixed Methods UX Researcher who is excited about shaping the future of AI-powered travel experiences. As part of our Research Team, you’ll work across disciplines—designers, data scientists, ML engineers, content designers, and product managers—to build intuitive, trustworthy, and human-centered AI features used by millions of travelers.

You’ll design and run studies across qualitative and quantitative methods, from concept evaluations and in-depth interviews to survey design, behavioral analysis, and lightweight modeling. Your work will directly inform how our AI systems reason, respond, and assist travelers throughout their journey.

If you’re curious, analytical, and energized by complex problems at the intersection of AI and human behavior, this could be the role for you.

In this role you will:
  • Conduct mixed-method research—using interviews, usability evaluations, surveys, data analysis, and more—to evaluate and improve AI-driven product experiences.

  • Identify the right method for ambiguous or emerging AI questions (e.g., trust, explainability, hallucination risk, content quality, usefulness).

  • Partner with ML teams to inform training data requirements, evaluate model performance from a UX lens, and identify user-centric guardrails.

  • Draft clear, actionable, evidence-based research readouts that influence product, design, and engineering decisions.

  • Contribute to the development of evaluation frameworks for AI experiences, including prompt testing, response quality scoring, and workflow analysis.

  • Advocate for user needs throughout the AI product lifecycle—from early ideation to post-launch refinement.

  • Tailor communication style and deliverables to different stakeholders including product leaders, designers, engineers, and data scientists.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to co-create solutions that improve trust, utility, and inclusiveness in AI-powered interactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, including one-on-one interviews, usability testing, survey design, and basic behavioral analytics.

  • Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Psychology, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Novice proficiency with SQL for basic querying, joins, and filtering.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Python or R for data cleaning, visualization, and running basic statistical tests.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable flexing between generative, evaluative, and rapid research to support fast-paced AI development cycles.

  • Familiar with the nuances of natural-language interactions.

  • Skilled at articulating research findings through compelling written reports, structured storylines, and verbal communication.

  • Grounded in human-centered design principles and able to partner effectively with design and technical teams.

  • A continuous learner with enthusiasm for emerging AI tools, UX evaluation methods, and data-driven product development.
