The Air Connectivity Organization at Expedia Group is seeking an experienced backend developer with a passion for building robust, scalable, and high-performance applications that help millions of people plan their travels and create lifelong memories. The Air Connectivity Organization at Expedia Group is at the forefront of innovation in the travel industry. We leverage our cutting-edge, in-house platform to seamlessly integrate with airlines worldwide, delivering exceptional travel experiences to millions of users annually. Through APIs that adhere to NDC standards, we enable travellers to access top-tier content, enjoy an immersive ticket shopping experience, and add convenient ancillaries to their journeys with ease.

We are part of the partner connectivity platform that serves as the backbone of Expedia’s business, powering an efficient two-way marketplace that bridges supply and demand. Leveraging diverse integration methods—ranging from direct connections to NDC and GDS sourcing—our platform processes over 50 Tier-1 services and generates more than 8TB of data each month. Built with modern technologies like Java, Kotlin, Spring, MSSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis, our ecosystem supports millions of travelers in finding the best travel products tailored to their needs.

In this role, you will:

    • Collaborates with team members to co-develop and solve problems.

    • Proactively reaches out to meet peers across environment and collaborates to solve problems.

    • Takes advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area.

    • Seeks knowledge from subject matter experts when needed.

    • Understands the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process.

    • Develops and tests standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.

    • Applies software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions.

    • Applies knowledge of database design to solve data requirements.

    • Helps coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues.

    • Thinks broadly and understand how, why and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization.

    • Completes tasks and/or provides data to support implementation of holistic solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process and technology.

    Experience and Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master’s in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.

    • 2+ years of professional experience developing in Java or Kotlin.

    • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOPS) Concepts, SOLID Principles, and Domain-Driven Design.

    • Experience designing and creating REST APIs for software projects.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • A high-performing individual contributor who acts as a mentor to more junior engineers.

    • Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies, using Git for source control, and integrating with logging/metrics tools like Splunk or Datadog.

    • Ability to understand and design moderately complex systems.

    • Experience applying new engineering principles to improve existing systems.

    • Demonstrates the ability to select among available technologies to implement and solve for a need.
