  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in technical editing, technical writing, or content management.
  • Experience producing or editing technical documentation for a developer audience.
  • Experience with Markdown.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience managing content projects, work prioritization, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Experience influencing others and organizing work so that projects are successful and meet customer needs.
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and trends in language usage.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across different teams and organizations.
  • Ability to manage individual priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn digital authoring tools.
About the job

The Google Cloud Developer Experience team makes cloud developers successful, one journey at a time. As part of this organization, the Cloud Editing team is responsible for defining and driving initiatives that improve the quality of all Google Cloud technical content, while also providing editorial oversight support for Google Cloud architecture content. As the Technical Editor, you’ll work with a team of editors who define quality standards, manage content freshness, scale editorial skills, and provide editing support. You will network and partner across many teams.

For United States applicants: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $121,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
  • Support content creators by providing insights into appropriate format, appropriate audience, and best use of language.
  • Advocate for users by ensuring accurate, consistent, and reliable content that meets customer needs.
  • Improve and update templates and style guides for scalable workflows and help define and implement optimal editorial workflow for given projects.
  • Manage content processes for high-priority initiatives across teams and organizations.
  • Collaborate with editors from different teams to align on best practices and maintain functional alignment.
