Principal Product Manager, Cars

Introduction to the Team:

The Product Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our focus on customer-centric innovation enables us to develop products that build loyalty and repeat business. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and achieve results for our customers and the company.

Join Expedia Group as a Principal Product Manager for Brand Expedia, one of the most trusted names in global travel. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for a key area within Brand Expedia's portfolio - Cars. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of travel experiences for millions of customers worldwide.

As a Principal Product Manager, you'll leverage your deep expertise to drive innovation, optimize user experiences, and deliver significant business impact. You'll work at the intersection of technology, user experience, and business strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring visionary ideas to life. Your role will be crucial in maintaining Brand Expedia's position as a leader in the competitive travel landscape. This position offers an exciting opportunity to tackle complex challenges in the travel industry, applying cutting-edge technologies and data-driven insights to create seamless, personalized travel experiences. You'll be at the forefront of innovation, influencing product strategy not just for your domain, but across the broader Brand Expedia ecosystem.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for core Cars platform and experience capabilities, with a focus on complex supplier systems that drive growth for partners and our end travelers.

  • Partner closely with User Experience, Engineering, Data Science, and Architecture to design robust systems, including API contracts, data models, and technical workflows that scale for high-traffic, multi-tenant use cases.

  • Define and optimize search and matching experiences for Cars by leveraging machine learning–driven capabilities, ensuring product requirements and system behavior align with ML model capabilities and constraints.

  • Collaborate deeply with B2B stakeholders across organizations (including partner-facing teams and supplier teams) to understand their business models and translate them into clear, prioritized product requirements and platform capabilities.

  • Drive cross-team alignment and execution across multiple domains within the Cars ecosystem, simplifying and modernizing complex, patched legacy flows into cohesive, reliable, and observable systems.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows, and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management building and scaling complex technical platforms or APIs, including ownership of multi-service or domain-level systems in a large-scale environment.

  • Proven track record working closely with engineering and data science teams on system design, API design, data modeling, and technical trade-offs for high-volume, transactional products.

  • Demonstrated experience with machine learning–powered products or search/relevance systems, with the ability to translate ML capabilities into product requirements and measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong experience collaborating with platform stakeholders, defining roadmaps that balance customer experience, platform scalability, partner needs, and long-term ecosystem health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading product strategy for large-scale products that support multi-tenant use cases across multiple lines of business.

  • Background working with ML teams to define data contracts, feedback loops, and evaluation metrics for continuous model and product improvement.

  • Demonstrated success modernizing complex, layered, or legacy architectures into scalable, resilient, and observable systems, including defining migration strategies and interim states across multiple services or domains.

  • Track record of data-driven decision-making using experimentation, statistical analysis, or advanced analytics to guide roadmap prioritization, measure impact, and optimize system performance at scale.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, with specific experience guiding safe, responsible, and outcome-focused use of AI/ML capabilities in complex technical ecosystems.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
