Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to lead architecture and technical design for the Knowledge platform, a cloud-native knowledge and solution delivery platform built on AWS.

Workflow Advisory enables Technical Advisory to publish, discover, activate, and scale digital advisory solutions across customers. As part of Solution Engineering, this role will drive the platform’s architecture, scalability, reliability, and extensibility while ensuring alignment with Autodesk security, cloud, and platform standards.

This is a hands-on architecture role requiring strong AWS cloud expertise, full-stack engineering depth, and the ability to define and govern scalable reference architectures. You will work closely with engineering teams, product stakeholders, DevOps, security, and consulting teams to build and develop a modern, API-first, cloud-native platform.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Design

• Define and evolve the target architecture for the Knowledge platform on AWS
• Design scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services
• Develop and maintain reference architectures and reusable design patterns
• Lead architectural decision-making using RFC/ADR processes and architecture review boards
• Ensure platform alignment with Autodesk enterprise architecture standards
• Document architecture and implementation process to deploy solutions.
• Guide sprint teams with design suggestions to solve complex problems.
• Have a learning mindset to shepherd AI assisted approach to improve design and platform design.

Cloud & Full-Stack Engineering Leadership

• Architect and guide implementation of full-stack solutions (frontend, backend, APIs, data layer)
• Design RESTful and event-driven services using modern backend frameworks (.NET preferred)
• Lead design of secure, scalable API integrations across internal and external systems
• Define best practices for frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Weave) and components like MaterialUI
• Ensure code quality through architecture reviews and technical mentorship
• Partner with DevOps teams to establish CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability standards

AWS Cloud Architecture

• Design and implement solutions using AWS services such as:
  • Compute (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS)
  • Storage (S3)
  • Databases (RDS, PostgreSQL, Redis,GraphDb)
  • Messaging/Eventing (SNS, SQS, EventBridge,PubNub, Step Functions)
  • Monitoring/Observability (CloudWatch, Jenkins, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Docker Registry)
  • Containerized workloads, Event-driven processing, Background indexing/extraction pipeline, AWS batch processing
  • Concepts like ELT, multi-threaded processing
• Ensure high availability, scalability, performance optimization, and cost efficiency
• Implement secure architecture patterns aligned to Autodesk Trust and data governance standards
• Drive modernization and cloud optimization initiatives

Data & Integration Architecture

• Design robust data models using SQL, Graph and NoSQL databases
• Architect integration between desktop tools, advisory tools, and cloud services
• Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance
• Establish telemetry, analytics, and monitoring strategies to support adoption tracking

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with Product Management to translate platform strategy into architectural roadmaps
• Partner with Solution Engineering teams to productize consulting IP into scalable platform services
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture teams
• Present architectural approaches and implementation strategies to technical and business stakeholders
• Act as trusted advisor to internal teams and external partners

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven experience architecting large-scale, customer-facing cloud applications
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services to develop multi-tenant, microservices based SaaS platform
• Deep expertise in:
  • .NET backend development
  • RESTful API design and service-oriented architecture
  • JavaScript and modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
  • SQL, Graph and NoSQL database design
• Experience building secure, scalable, production-grade web platforms
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and clean architecture principles
• Experience participating in or leading architecture review boards (RFC/ADR processes)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing knowledge platforms, marketplaces, or digital delivery platforms
• Experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) or Manufacturing domains
• Familiarity with TOGAF or enterprise architecture methodologies
• Experience documenting architecture using formal notations (e.g., ArchiMate)
• Experience with infrastructure automation and DevOps pipelines
• Passion for open-source technologies
• Experience working in globally distributed teams
• Prior customer-facing architecture or advisory experience
• Knowledge of Autodesk Platform Services and Autodesk Industry Clouds
• Has worked with trust and security standards in previous projects.
