About the team

The Puma team builds and scales the platforms that power key monetization initiatives at Zillow, helping real estate professionals gain access to products they need to assist people on their home buying journey. We foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation where team members are encouraged to learn about the business, share their ideas, and help us build a diverse, inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong.

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer on the Puma team, you’ll lead the end-to-end delivery and ongoing support of projects that drive monetization of key Zillow initiatives, from planning and implementation through deployment and operational support. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to build reliable, scalable systems that help more people successfully buy, sell, and rent homes.

You Will Get To

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new features that power Zillow’s web and mobile web experiences.

  • Review peer code, facilitate engineering discussions, and advocate for best practices to improve code quality and team standards.

  • Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions that align with business goals.

  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow the team’s technical capabilities.

  • Participate in an inclusive, energetic, and highly cross-functional team that values learning and shared ownership.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

You’ll excel in this team if you thrive on autonomy, seek out persistent problems, and implement effective solutions quickly. You are:

  • Bringing 3+ years of software development experience, including modern JavaScript (ES6+), React, TypeScript, and GraphQL for web and mobile web applications, and experience with at least one back-end language such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go for APIs and services.

  • Experienced with relational and non-relational databases and able to choose appropriate data storage strategies.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

  • Currently authorized to work in Mexico.

  • Highly skilled with modern development technologies used to design, deliver, debug, and maintain front-end user interfaces and back-end software systems, and recognized as a technical leader with impact beyond your immediate team.

  • Passionate about raising the bar for systems design, testing, code quality, and maintainability for your team and the broader engineering organization.

Here at Zillow, we value the experience and perspective of candidates with non-traditional backgrounds. We encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills or related experiences.
