Business Development Team in Central Europe focuses on growth of categories growth in 4 markets being Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands. We lead our cluster efforts in the area of sales and proposition build for Public Sector clients, commercial cards, SME business, transactional banking, cross border, new flows, fintech and strategic partnerships. These specific business lines are seen as significant drivers for Visa’s future growth.
In the role of Business Development within the Public Sector you will have a direct impact on the strategy and its execution. You will take accountability for delivery of related objectives. You will work with Visa clients and partners, you will closely cooperate with other functions in the market, in the cluster, in Europe and globally.
Visa is seeking an experienced professional to join the CE Business Development Team for 4 markets (Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Netherlands) with a focus on the German market. This role will have the following responsibilities:
- Support the definition of relevant strategies and specific market plans in Government Disbursements and Acceptance
- Work with Municipalities, Public IT Providers and State owned entities to identify new and ongoing requirements, introducing new products and services as appropriate i.e. Government Disbursements and Acceptance Solutions
- Build up a Public Sector network to find, develop and manage commercial relationships with dedicated issuers, Payment Service Providers, GovTechs and other partners in the market
- Work closely with local and cluster resources executing strategies, increasing payments volume and securing long-term revenue with Visa clients and partners in the Public Sector
- Quickly get up to speed on Visa’s product offering, specializing in Government solutions related propositions, and understanding how those can help our Public Sector clients achieve their objectives
- Develop collateral, internal and external solution content dedicated to the Public Sector, collaborating with local and regional solution partners and other stakeholders in the Government area
- Utilize a consultative sales approach that ensures that Public Sector stakeholders are educated about Visa’s capabilities and use these to enhance efficiency
- Continuously review payment landscape within the Public Sector, recommend and help develop ways to driving our business growth
- Develop and execute sales strategies / account plans to increase sales volume and market share, expand product category visibility and exceed defined product and corporate objectives
- Coordinate and own the key sales pipeline, ensuring all opportunities are properly reported
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

• Proven experience and understanding of how payments and financial services sectors operate
• Proven knowledge of both - issuing and acceptance solutions within Central Europe
• Ideally, proven knowledge of Public Sector Payment ecosystems or strong interest to adapt existing knowledge to this vertical
• Willings to adapt knowledge to specific Public Sector ecosystems and contribute to a learning by doing approach
• Creativity and out of the box thinking – building up first ever use cases
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for creating best in class understanding of Public Sector requirements and ecosystem
• Consultative sales experience, with the ability to educate a wide range of stakeholders on Visa’s capabilities, clearly business oriented
• Ability to negotiate business agreements and enhance existing and new relationships.
• Experience in effectively creating and confidently delivering presentations to senior stakeholders
• Be open minded and excited about the future technologies, willing to learn, work and engage in a multi-cultural environment
• Degree level education is desirable, or equivalent professional experience
• Fluency speaking and writing German and English
