Skills and Competencies 

  • Ability to successfully manage, maintain and build media relationships. 

  • Experience leading the development and activation of integrated, multi-channel communications strategies and campaigns. 

  • Strong and persuasive verbal, written and presentation skills (concise, impactful, compelling). Ability to influence and act as a strategic advisor to senior business partners. 

  • Experience leading and implementing the tracking, analysis and reporting of media engagement, coverage and impact. 

  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks under tight deadlines, and the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively. 

  • Must be a professional, creative, organized, enthusiastic and flexible individual, who can work effectively both as a collaborative team member and independently. 

  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 360, specifically Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint; demonstrated experience using GenAI tools and technology to power Communications activities and workflow is a plus. 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency, along with awareness of responsible and ethical AI use 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field. 

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of communications and media relations experience in a corporate environment, ideally within the financial services sector. 

Responsibilities 

The VP – External Communications plays a pivotal role on our Regional Communications team, positioning Moody’s as a leading provider of insights on risk in the media and with other stakeholders in India and the APAC region. As a trusted communications counsellor, the Mumbai-based VP leads a range of external and internal communications efforts to drive Moody’s thought leadership and to enhance its brand and reputation.  

  • Lead the development and implementation of communications strategies and campaigns and serve as a strategic advisor in support of a wide range of business units within Moody’s in India and APAC.  

  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining media relationships, ensuring robust relationships with journalists, producers and media outlets covering Moody’s content. 

  • Identify opportunities for and engage in proactive media outreach through pitches, interviews, briefings and other earned speaking engagements, as well as through targeted distributions of spokesperson commentary, thought leadership research and digital content. 

  • Respond to media inquiries by providing solutions content and ratings, research, and facilitating access to analysts, economists, subject matter experts and product specialists. 

  • Responsible for communications strategy and support for Moody’s market engagement conferences and events in India and the region. 

  • Leverage GenAI/Agentic AI tools and solutions to develop integrated, multi-channel outreach and compelling content, and to improve communications operations and workflows. 

  • Maintain our media contacts database, lead regional media monitoring and analysis, and manage our media engagement and impact tracking. 

  • Partner with Moody’s Employee Communications team on the implementation of strategic regional employee communications initiatives. Provide Communications support for senior leadership traveling in the region. 

  • Partner with Moody’s Branding team to identify and develop content showcasing Moody’s regional impact and engagement as part of its global brand story 

  • Acts as leader on the external communications team, guiding and advising more junior team members. 

  • Hybrid role based in Mumbai. Occasional weekend/out of hours is required.

The VP Communications will sit within Global Corporate Affairs Team as an integral part of Moody’s Shared Services, the branch of Moody’s responsible for providing professional services to support the success of Moody's Corporation, which includes our global Moody's Ratings & Moody’s Analytics businesses.
