Mobile Engineer II, iOS

In This Role, You Will:

• Design, build, and maintain native iOS applications using Swift and UIKit/SwiftUI, focusing on performance, reliability, and a high-quality customer experience across Expedia Group brands.
• Implement robust client-side architectures, including clear module boundaries, reusable UI components, and well-structured networking, caching, and data persistence layers.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define mobile APIs, low-level designs, and data models that support scalable, secure, and observable features.
• Write clean, testable code with unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and improve automation and tooling to ensure high engineering standards and operational excellence.
• Use analytics, experimentation, and logging to understand app behavior, diagnose production issues, and iterate quickly on features across multiple travel domains and customer journeys.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled and AI‑assisted solutions that improve mobile customer experiences, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional experience building and shipping native iOS applications in Swift, including owning features or services end-to-end from design to production support.
• Solid understanding of iOS fundamentals such as memory management, concurrency, networking, data modeling, and system APIs, along with experience designing clean, well-structured APIs and low-level designs.
• Experience writing unit tests and using modern development practices (version control, CI/CD, code reviews) to maintain high-quality, reliable mobile services and features, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building large-scale, customer-facing iOS apps with complex navigation, offline handling, and performance constraints, ideally in e-commerce, travel, or similarly high-traffic domains.
• Proven ability to contribute to and evolve mobile architectures (including modularization, API contracts, data models, and low-level/system design) that support multiple features and teams operating in parallel.
• Hands-on experience using experimentation, analytics, and observability to guide mobile feature development, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve app quality and performance.
• Prior work integrating recommendation, personalization, or intelligent assistant capabilities into mobile apps, including safely operating AI/ML‑enabled experiences and optimizing them based on real-world usage.
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, services, or SDKs commonly used with mobile applications, and with AI-assisted developer tools to improve productivity and code quality, particularly when integrating AI/ML‑enabled solutions into iOS apps.
