As an Associate Legal Editor (Asia Cases), you will play a key role in curating, analyzing, and publishing high-quality judicial decisions from Hong Kong and Singapore. You'll work collaboratively with editorial teams across the globe to ensure that legal professionals have access to accurate, up-to-date, and value-added case law content across all media platforms. Your work will directly support the integrity and reliability of Thomson Reuters' legal information.
About the Role
In this opportunity as an Associate Legal Editor (Asia Cases), you will:
- Acquire and publish judicial decisions from Hong Kong and Singapore, ensuring timely and accurate inclusion in our legal databases.
- Maintain and enhance our case law database by verifying the accuracy of decisions, applying corrigenda, and adding editorial value such as headnotes, summaries, and classification.
- Analyze and interpret complex legal judgments to identify key legal issues, holdings, and procedural history for editorial enhancement.
- Collaborate with global editorial teams to align on standards, resolve editorial queries, and support consistent content delivery.
- Adhere to strict editorial schedules and quality standards to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal publishing protocols.
- Leverage AI-powered editorial tools to improve productivity, accuracy, and the value delivered in published legal content.
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain legal knowledge and stay current with developments in Hong Kong and Singapore jurisprudence.
About You
You're a fit for the role of Associate Legal Editor (Asia Cases) if you have the following required qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated aptitude for legal research, analysis, and writing, particularly in the context of judicial decisions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading skills, with the ability to manage high-priority updates under tight deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex legal material clearly, logically, and concisely.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the discretion to collaborate effectively in a global team environment.
- Proficiency with personal computers, word processing software, and online research tools.
- Ability to prioritize tasks independently and work with initiative in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Proficiency in reading and writing Traditional Chinese, as used in Hong Kong court judgments.
- Familiarity with Hong Kong or Singapore legal systems or case law.
- Experience using legal research databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, or internal editorial systems.
