As an Associate Legal Editor (AU Legislation), you'll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Thomson Reuters' authoritative collection of Australian legislation. Working collaboratively with legal editors in Australia and around the world, you'll ensure our customers receive accurate, up-to-date, and expertly annotated legal content across digital and print platforms. You'll combine legal insight with editorial rigor and leverage AI-powered tools to deliver high-quality, value-driven outcomes.

About the Role
In this opportunity as an Associate Legal Editor (AU Legislation), you will:
- Conduct legal research and analysis to interpret, annotate, and update Australian legislation for publication across all media.
- Apply editorial judgment to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Thomson Reuters' quality standards.
- Utilize AI tools and proprietary editorial systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and value in content development and delivery.
- Collaborate with legal editors and subject matter experts across jurisdictions to maintain alignment and consistency in editorial practices.
- Monitor legislative developments and prioritize urgent updates to ensure timeliness and relevance of published content.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of Australian legal frameworks, legislative processes, and publishing workflows.
- Adhere to production schedules and quality control procedures to meet deadlines and uphold editorial excellence.
About You
You're a fit for the role of Associate Legal Editor (AU Legislation) if you have the following required qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated aptitude for legal research, writing, and analytical reasoning.
- Strong attention to detail with proven proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to time-sensitive legislative updates.
- Proficiency in using word processing software, online legal databases, and digital publishing tools.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills in a global, team-based environment.
- Capacity for independent judgment and problem-solving when resolving complex editorial issues.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
- Prior experience in legal publishing, editorial work, or legislative research.
- Familiarity with Australian Commonwealth and/or state/territory legislation.
- Experience using AI tools in a research, editorial, or legal context.
