Skills and Competencies
- 5+ years of experience in data management, data operations, remediation, or analytics— including 2+ years leading teams or large-scale data initiatives
- Proven leadership experience managing distributed teams or contract resources
- Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Working knowledge of cloud data engineering platforms (Databricks preferred)
- Exceptional communication skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders or clients
- Demonstrated success operating in fast-paced, high-demand environments
Preferred:
- Experience with Spark or PySpark for scalable data processing
- Background in data governance, entity resolution, and data quality frameworks
- Familiarity with generative AI, automation tools, or AI-driven remediation methods
- Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or related field
Responsibilities
The Associate Director, Data Management & Remediation Strategy is a leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, automation, and operational excellence of Moody’s global data remediation initiatives. The primary mandate of this position is to design and lead scaled, technology-enabled remediation frameworks that improve data quality, accelerate issue resolution, and enhance data integrity across the Data Estate
In addition, the role participates in a specialized white‑glove remediation function for Moody’s highest‑priority clients. This includes serving as the senior escalation point, ensuring precision, trust, and tailored solutions for complex or business‑critical issues. The Associate Director will also manage distributed contract teams to enable rapid, high-volume remediation while maintaining exceptional quality and client satisfaction
This role requires strategic thinking, deep data expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders across both Moody’s internal teams and client organizations
- Define and lead the long-term strategy for scalable data remediation, data quality frameworks, and operational efficiency across Moody’s Data Estate
- Establish governance protocols ensuring consistency, accuracy, lineage, and compliance across global data workflows
- Drive the roadmap for automation, AI-driven remediation, and self-healing data systems
- Architect automated remediation pipelines leveraging SQL, Python, Databricks, Spark, and rule-based or machine learning models
- Serve as a senior point of contact for high-priority client remediation initiatives requiring tailored, high-touch solutions
- Engage directly with senior client stakeholders to clarify objectives, align remediation strategies, and ensure transparency and trust
- Oversee end-to-end resolution of sensitive or complex client issues, ensuring precision, quality, and executive-level communication
- Deliver client-facing insights, root-cause analyses, and recommendations for long-term data quality improvements
- Oversee development of tools, workflows, and monitoring systems that allow remediation at scale with minimal manual effort
- Ensure rapid turnaround times and high reliability across global remediation operations
- Identify recurring systemic issues and drive long-term engineering or process improvements to prevent recurrence
- Manage groups of contract resources responsible for high-volume data review and remediation tasks
- Oversee onboarding, training, workload distribution, and performance management for distributed teams
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and client-centricity across all remediation and data quality operations
- Develop scalable, repeatable workflows that accelerate remediation time while maintaining rigorous quality standards
- Monitor execution progress, identify constraints or bottlenecks, and implement corrective or preventive actions
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of remediation logic, processes, and client or stakeholder communications
- Collaborate closely with Product Strategy, Sales, Content, Technology, and Client Service teams to ensure alignment on priorities and outcomes
- Provide senior leadership with clear reporting on remediation trends, KPIs, risks, and progress against strategic goals
- Build strong internal relationships to ensure seamless coordination across the data lifecycle
- Use tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, and Databricks to analyze data quality issues, track remediation progress, and generate insights
- Identify root causes and recurring patterns to recommend systemic or architectural improvements
- Promote continuous improvement practices, ensuring processes evolve alongside business needs and client expectations
