This Sr. Director position is a senior leadership role within the Global Systems organization and reports directly to the VP, Global Systems Operations. This role will also interface frequently with senior management at EnerSys. Responsibilities include supplier selection, supplier contract negotiation, supplier management, regional & low-cost sourcing, NPI, supplier quality initiatives, and working capital management to achieve world class TCO. The Sr. Director will create and execute a sourcing strategy that supports EnerSys growth plans for its Systems business. This individual will manage a team of associates in Americas, EMEA & APAC and execute strategies through the EnerSys Regional Sourcing organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute robust world-class sourcing activities aligned to the business priorities of growth, innovation, quality, sustainability, and profitability. Ensure tight alignment with the supply chain needs of Operations and the global business
  • Design and implement a Sourcing organizational model for EnerSys Systems based on global best practices and regional support
  • Lead Sourcing initiatives focused on: Strategic Supplier Negotiations, Cost Reduction, Supplier Management, Risk Management, Multi-Source Strategies, Direct Materials, Indirect Materials, Lead-Time Reduction, Supplier Quality, and Services
  • Manage People, Customer, and Shareholder KPI’s for Sourcing to support Global Systems Operations goals and objectives
  • Lead major supplier negotiations and competitive bidding to support cost-effective, secure, and sustainable growth of the Company
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Sourcing staff in global locations
  • Assure a strong governance culture by monitoring and enforcing compliance with policies and procedures
  • Partner proactively with Line of Business Leaders, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and other groups within the Company
  • Collaborate with Quality organization to proactively qualify, audit, and improve suppliers; identify and drive continuous improvement across high-risk, critical suppliers. Ensure auditing processes are aligned to best practices and to business needs
  • Establish positive and effective rapport with staff, suppliers, and in some cases customers
  • Develop and manage the operating budget for your organization
  • Develop and drive execution of key targets

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory responsibilities include management of procurement & sourcing professionals

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree required in technical domain
  • Preference for Advanced Degree in Sourcing, Supply Chain, Business, or Relevant Technical Field
  • 15+ years total experience across supply chain, sourcing, procurement, materials management, and operations
  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing
  • Track record of strategic sourcing results in large businesses with global suppliers. Preference given to candidates who have direct experience at tier 1 contract manufacturers or automotive suppliers
  • Deep knowledge of industrial sourcing, including categories such as: electronic components, PCBA, systems & sub-systems, lithium-based technologies, commodities, machined and stamped metals, mechanical systems, controllers, motors, tooling
  • Possess advanced knowledge of relevant sourcing approaches, measurements, best practices, and systems
  • Demonstrated skill and success in negotiating complex supply agreements
  • Preference for experience in Telecom, Datacom, Broadband, Automotive, Lithium Products, or Energy Storage industries
  • Preference for active professional certifications
  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformation of sourcing processes and teams in a global business
  • Strong project management and organization skills; makes tradeoffs and presents them convincingly to others
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk
  • Possesses a strong network across various suppliers in the relevant industries
  • Seasoned builder of strong relationships across functional boundaries, such as engineering, finance, operations, SIOP, product management
  • Must work well with other people and be a good team player

Travel Required:

  • Extensive domestic and international travel will be required
