Purpose:

- Support development of public policies and regulations that are conducive for expansion of electronic payments
- Support the raise and optimization of Visa’s profile and reputation through the delivery of coordinated communications and education targeted at key regulators, government officials, and other policy makers both directly and through appropriate industry and trade associations
- Support securing that Visa’s outreach and messaging in Brazil is consistent with similar efforts in other key markets around the world
Principle responsibility/Key results area:
- Support the Vice President in the continuing development of a Government Affairs strategy in Brazil to achieve agreed business objectives
- Support the communication with government stakeholders that supports business objectives and enhances Visa’s reputation
- Support the development of actions to allow government, politicians, and regulators to understand and value Visa’s role resulting in an absence of regulatory barriers to industry expansion
- Identify legislative, regulatory, and political threats to, or opportunities for Visa’s business in Brazil
- Maintain appropriate contact with counterparts at other industry participants, including banking and trade associations
Reporting relationships & interactions:
- Reports directly to the Vice President of Government Affairs for Brazil, based in São Paulo
- Works very closely with LAC and Global Government Affairs teams, Country management, and other relevant functional teams
- Liaise closely with functional colleagues around the world to refine and exploit best practices
- Works with cross divisional business teams as subject matter expert on regulatory issues and government relations
- Liaising with consultants
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Required experience and skills Degree in Law, Political Science, Economics or related field 5-8 years of experience, preferably in the corporate or public sector Government contacts In-depth knowledge of the local business, legal and political environments Political acumen Strategic advocacy and communicating planning skills Superior inter-personal and presentational skills Outstanding written communication abilities Knowledge in the payment industry is considered a differential
