The position requires close collaboration with in-market leadership as well as regional and global partners, including VAS, Product, Government Affairs, Client Services, among others.

The Risk Director is responsible for setting security priorities and executing strategies to prevent fraud, strengthen authentication, protect sensitive data, respond to data breaches, and prevent misuse of the payment system. The role also represents Visa’s Credit Settlement Risk framework, safeguarding the company against financial loss arising from issuer or acquirer failure. In addition, the role engages directly with clients to mitigate risk and enable responsible innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive risk strategy aligned with local market conditions and global priorities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Country Managers and leadership on all risk-related matters
  • Lead internal and external risk management programs and client-facing forums
  • Promote adoption of Visa risk products and solutions
  • Balance authorization performance with fraud mitigation objectives
  • Build and manage relationships with issuers, acquirers, merchants, processors, regulators, and other ecosystem participants
  • Oversee response and coordination for fraud events, cyber incidents, and data breaches
  • Lead responsible innovation initiatives and assess emerging risks and new business models
  • Conduct regional risk assessments for new players and initiatives
  • Provide clear, actionable reporting to executive management and synthesize market feedback to enhance Visa’s risk strategy
  • Design and lead client workshops showcasing Visa’s latest products, market trends, and emerging topics relevant to client priorities.
  • Lead and conduct Risk Executive Councils (RECs), client Summits, and MBRs to engage clients on risk, security, and strategic priorities.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Fluency in Spanish and professional proficiency in English are required, along with confidence, humility, and energy to succeed in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
