We’re seeking someone to join our team as Associate in IM Operations to ensure that the Performance team meets all internal and external deliverables against the established Service Level Agreement. They will be responsible for the strategies, priorities, and initiatives to drive world-class capabilities and continuous process improvements activities, and to play a key role in helping transform how Morgan Stanley Operates.
In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position within the Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you’ll do in the role:
- Execute processes/functions and/or support process management and project efforts, leveraging knowledge of the systems, markets and instruments that influence the team.
- Recognize risk in day-to-day processes to draw out the key issues and contribute to process improvements.
- Build relationships within team and internal stakeholders, sharing knowledge to contribute to team output.
- Participate in projects and initiatives, aiding in solution formulation with a focus on timely execution.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for calculating and reporting performance results, for portfolios and benchmarks.
- Vendors: Work with vendors to ensure service levels are met as agreed with business partners and stakeholders.
- Performance and Analytical Calculation: Understand the performance and analytical calculation requirements of Morgan Stanley’s proprietary funds, institutional clients, and other products, including local reporting rules and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions where MSIM conducts business.
- Control Framework: Understand core infrastructure within the division to identify control/gatekeeping processes; build a preventive control framework to identify data issues impacting the investment process.
- Data Quality: Leverage data quality rules to proactively identify gaps/outliers based on pre-established thresholds.
- Industry Leading Technologies: Familiarity with industry-leading technologies like Alteryx, PowerBI, GenAI, etc., to develop tools for the operations team to pursue automation and enhance efficiency.
- Identify and Address Procedural Inefficiencies: Proactively identify procedural inefficiencies and escalate process improvement opportunities in core operational processes through review of metrics and implement improvements that will be measured to monitor progress.
- Data Reports: Build timely and accurate data reports for business and functional partners/stakeholders across functional areas within our division.
- KRI/KPIs: Maintain KRI/KPIs to track the efficiency of our operations and be able to report back to stakeholders.
- Global Collaboration: Work with other colleagues within our global organization to streamline and increase the efficiency and accuracy of the performance and analytical measurement processes.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Performance Calculation and Reporting: Asset management performance calculation and reporting experience, including knowledge of alternative return calculations and GIPS standards.
- Automation with low code tooling, AI savvy, and familiarity with process improvements and transformation tools
- Investment Management Operations: Prior experience in investment management operations is highly preferred. Understanding of investment products (equities, fixed income, derivatives, alternatives) and their valuation as part of the overall portfolio.
- Independent Operation: Ability to operate independently and navigate the organization to foster collaboration in a results-oriented manner.
- Risk Management: Ability to identify and escalate risk issues to Operations Management and stakeholders.
- Client Service: Highly proactive and energetic focus toward client service and relationship management. Ability to work across an array of functional teams and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment to meet committed timelines.
- Ability to establish clear goals and priorities and address non-standard issues within area of expertise with minimal guidance and supervision.
- Subject matter expertise in business area supported, client requirements, and ability to ensure control is not compromised to comply with client requests.

- At least 3 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
