Job Description

Demonstrates proficiency and technical expertise in regulated and cross-functional capacity. Under general supervision, performs general upkeep and handling of research and laboratory systems.  Serves as a technical team member by providing support to assigned department.

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Ability to design, plan, organize and implement tasks within an allotted timeframe.
  • Ability to carry out daily activities in the vivarium, proficient in humane animal handling skills, dosing by oral gavage, intravenous, and intraperitoneal routes, bleeding, assessing health, and performing humane euthanasia.
  • The candidate will be required to work with potentially hazardous compounds, using appropriate precautions for the safety of the candidate and co-workers, and to prepare dosing formulations.
  • Must be able to concisely communicate key issues to stakeholders, interact and communicate effectively with peers, animal husbandry staff, veterinary staff, toxicologists, and collaborating scientists.
  • Once the training period is completed, the candidate will be required to work independently on holidays and on the weekend on an as needed basis.
  • The ideal candidate will also have postmortem examination (necropsy) experience.
  • There are opportunities for expanding the candidate’s responsibilities beyond those identified as core job responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and at least 3 year's experience in a laboratory setting;
  • Technical training completion/certification or Associates degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience
  • Good communication skills and the ability to relay messages to management
  • Good working knowledge of MSWord; Excel Spreadsheets, word processing, and email and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to take initiative to handle basic issues autonomously and working with team member for the more complex issues.

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
