Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineer (Device Development Engineer) role within the Science and Technology (S&T) organization is responsible for contributing to the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components for electro-mechanical combination products and medical devices. This position requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles as well as the ability to solve complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Independently design mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks software.
- Perform simulations and analysis to validate designs.
- Develop and execute verification test plans to ensure product meets performance and reliability requirements.
- Collaborate with third party manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.
- Conduct analyses (e.g. calculations, tolerance analysis, etc.) as needed to improve product and component designs.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and apply them to projects.
- Conduct effective root cause analysis to investigate issues relating to Electro-Mechanical products and associated processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience, preferably in Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 2 years of experience preferably in Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge to carry out the job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with tolerance stack-up analyses.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
