Join our team! Reuters is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic photo editor to join our industry-leading sports pictures desk with branches in Mexico City, London UK, and Bangalore India. This job, based in Mexico City, is for a candidate with fluent English and Spanish, and a sharp eye for detail who can effortlessly sift through hundreds of sports photos contributed daily by our photographers from around the world.
We’re looking for a person who handles deadlines with calm and focus, can learn complex workflows easily, and work fast under pressure. It’s a job for an editor who has considerable knowledge of the world’s main sport disciplines, follows the news of sport, and knows what constitutes an impactful sports photograph.
A commitment to preserving the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity, and freedom from bias is essential. So is absolute dedication to the safety of all the photographers who provide pictures to Reuters.
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Sports Photo Editor, you will:
Receive hundreds of photos from each sports event and choose, crop, and process a tight selection in Adobe Photoshop.
Research and write photo captions quickly with a minimum of errors, before sending the photos to global media clients.
Communicate fluidly over text messages, emails, and voice calls with photographers in the field during live events.
Maintain close operational links with Text and Video colleagues.
Plan and schedule sports coverage around Latin America
About You
You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:
Fluent Spanish and English, spoken and written. Spoken Portuguese is a plus.
A love for both sports and sports photography.
In-depth knowledge of South American soccer.
Sound sports and pictures judgement, and an ability to spot an important story.
Strong interpersonal skills while working under time pressure, team spirit, and a desire to win in a highly competitive industry.
Minimum five years experience in photography or photo editing.
Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Mac OS.
