Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is Visa's consulting division, serving Visa's clients (including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants) and solving their strategic problems focused on improving performance and profitability. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, payments, data analytics, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA drives high impact and tangible financial results.
VCA is looking for a Manager, Data Governance who will act as Data Steward for its AP region. This role will be responsible for reviewing, assessing, and supporting data use‑case requests across VCA’s AP markets, as well as contributing to broader data governance initiatives across the region.
The individual will be part of the VCA AP Data stewards organization and will work closely with AP markets and global data policy team on a comprehensive range of data stewardship and data governance activities related to data driven use cases, data quality, metadata management, access controls, privacy and compliance—enabling trusted data ecosystem for strategic growth, profitability, customer engagement, and portfolio management.

What a Manager, Data Governance, Visa Consulting & Analytics does at Visa:
The role will be part of the data stewardship team for VCA AP region and will be responsible for following:
- Review, classify and support data use case requests for VCA AP markets working with global data stewards and data policy team.
- Act as SME for VISA's data stewardship and data policy addressing any queries/clarifications from the market data science and consulting teams
- Establish and maintain data governance framework for AP that includes policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security based on our global governance framework.
- Implement and maintain data catalogue to standardize data definitions and ensure common understanding of data across VCA organization.
- Support implementation of data quality management process and improvement initiatives to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Work closely with markets, data policy team, global data stewards and other stakeholders to understand data needs, address data-related issues, and promote data governance best practices.
- Evaluate and implement data governance tools and technologies to support data governance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and manage data-related risks.
- Provide regular reports on data governance activities, data quality metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
- Continuously assess and improve data governance practices to adapt to changing business needs and industry trends.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- We are looking for an individual with 8-12 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, mathematics, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have strong, hands‑on experience in data governance, including data stewardship, metadata management, data quality management, data security, and adherence to data policies and standards.
- The candidate should also have good understanding of big data technologies (such as Hadoop, Python, and Spark) and a practical appreciation of data science and machine learning concepts to effectively partner with analytics and engineering teams.
- Experience in the banking, financial services, or payments industry is highly preferred.
- Strong experience in data governance covering areas such as data stewardship, metadata management, data quality management and data security.
- Good appreciation of big data technology such as Hadoop, Python and Spark and data science/machine learning.
- Understanding of AI governance and Responsible/Ethical AI practices will be an advantage
- Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of relevant data protection regulations and compliance requirements.
- Familiar/Skilled in identifying and implementing GenAI solutions is desirable.
- Self-motivated, results oriented individual with ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
