We are seeking an energetic and creative Social Media Officer to support social media scheduling, delivery, monitoring, and engagement for the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

You’ll be passionate about using social media to reach diverse audiences, build brand awareness, and drive engagement and growth through social-first storytelling and activations.
In this role, you’ll support the Social Media Lead and the Communications team, creating social-first content that aligns with the organisation’s missions and objectives. You will work most closely with the Communications and Audience teams (within a broader External Engagement unit), but collaborate with teams across the organisation to support in devising new ways to showcase their work and elevate the social presence of senior leaders.
About the role
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Pitching, producing and posting compelling, impactful native content for our corporate social media accounts (currently LinkedIn, Facebook, and X).
Attending regular weekly meetings to identify social opportunities and develop content plans.
Working closely with Communications, Design, and Marketing colleagues on campaigns and assets.
Monitoring mentions of TRF across social platforms and identifying external opportunities to meaningfully contribute on issues relevant to our mission and goals.
Supporting the Social Media Lead with partner commitments, social-media training, and performance analysis of corporate social media activity.
Support the Social Media Lead in developing the Foundation’s “voices” on our social media channels, aligning these with organisational priorities and key campaigns to position relevant spokespeople on targetted subjects.
Keeping abreast of the changing social-media landscape to ensure our content is relevant and impactful in format, tone, and approach.
Other responsibilities:
Supporting on the implementation of our corporate social media strategy.
Supporting the implementation of social media campaign ideas for larger initiatives and events.
Covering live events, such as Trust Conference, panel discussions, or webinars.
Supporting TRF’s editorial social media output when appropriate.
About You:
You’re a fit for the role of Social Media Officer, if you have:
At least 2-3 years’ experience in a social media role, ideally in a fast-paced environment, NGO, foundation, or institution
An appreciation of social media’s role for a non-profit organisation that is not in the advocacy or campaigning space and adheres to Reuters Trust Principles.
A deep understanding of social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.
Experience in social-media video production, including scripting, filming, and production.
Willingness to test, learn, and experiment with new ideas in collaboration with other teams.
Experience translating complex topics for specific audiences on social media platforms in various formats.
Strong English copywriting skills, with flawless grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Knowledge of scheduling and analytics tools such as Sprout Social or Meltwater.
Experience using design and editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Canva, and working within brand guidelines.
Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management, and the ability to manage workload effectively and work autonomously.
Desired skills and experience:
Demonstrable interest in human rights, media, and ethical business practices.
Experience with paid promotion on social media.
Experience working shifted hours and with international teams.
