Job Summary : 

The Business Analyst (Analytics Focused) will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and data-driven solutions. This individual will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within our banking operations. They will translate analytical findings into actionable business requirements and collaborate closely with technology and data teams to implement and monitor solutions that enhance our analytical capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of banking processes, exceptional analytical acumen, and a proven ability to drive data-informed initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

• Performance Interpretation & Insights: Interpret complex data sets to identify significant trends, patterns, and anomalies, translating these into clear, concise, and impactful insights that support informed decision-making for business partners and senior leadership.
• Customer Behavioral Insights: Leverage data to derive customer behavioral insights, informing and driving effective targeting, segmentation, and engagement strategies across digital channels.
• Reporting System Development & Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive reporting systems, dashboards, and analytical tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
• Data Rationalization & Automation: Lead initiatives to rationalize, enhance, transform, and automate existing reports, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability to meet evolving business needs.
• Advanced Data Analysis: Data Analysis & Insights:
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify key performance indicators (KPIs), trends, patterns, and anomalies within banking data (e.g., customer behavior, transaction data, risk metrics).
• Utilize statistical methods and analytical tools to extract meaningful insights from large and complex datasets.
• Develop and maintain analytical reports, interactive dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key findings and support data-driven decision-making for various business units.
• Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to ensure data quality, accessibility, and the development of robust analytical models.
• Perform root cause analysis for performance variances and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, both local and international (e.g., India-based teams), to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of reports and analytical solutions. Manage end-to-end project communication with business partners.
• Project Leadership & Mentorship: Lead analytical projects from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Mentor junior analysts, fostering skill development and contributing to overall team capability.
• Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency by adhering to established data governance frameworks, standard control procedures, and Citi’s stringent Risk and Control guidelines.

Experience and Skills Required

Experience

• Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or MIS reporting, preferably within the financial services or banking industry.
• Proven experience working with Big Data ecosystems, including technologies such as Hive, Hadoop, Spark (with strong proficiency in Python).
• Experience with cloud-based data management platforms and services.
• Demonstrated expertise in leveraging digital channels, marketing strategies, and tools for audience engagement.
• Hands-on experience with web analytics platforms like Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics for tracking website traffic, funnel performance, and customer journey analysis.
• Prior experience in leading projects and mentoring analytical teams.

Technical Skills

• Database & Querying: Advanced proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis from large relational databases.
• Programming: Strong programming skills in SAS & Python (PySpark, Pandas) for data processing, statistical analysis, and automation.
• Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, QlikView, or similar software, capable of creating interactive dashboards and reports.
• Big Data Technologies: Practical knowledge of Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.

Analytical & Soft Skills

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information and data insights to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Proven ability to create compelling presentations and effectively present findings, recommendations, and reports.
• Self-motivated with a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribution to organizational initiatives including competency development, training, and team-building activities.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
