Introduction to the Team:

The Ads Billing team owns the end-to-end Billing & Funding platform that powers all of EG’s advertising revenue—spanning TravelAds, Display Ads, and UAP products. We design and run mission-critical services and data pipelines that move advertiser money (pre-funding/marketing funds, post-bill, invoices, credit memos, stored cards/autopay), keep us SOX-compliant, and feed downstream finance and reporting systems. Engineers here work on high-scale, data-intensive, finance-grade systems, modernizing legacy stacks, building new billing experiences in CAP (Billing Center, payment flows, audit history), and partnering closely with Product, Finance, and Analytics to ensure every ad dollar is billed, recognized, and reported accurately.
In this role, you will:
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java or Kotlin and frontend experiences using React.js and JavaScript to deliver reliable, high-quality features end to end.
  • Build and evolve well-structured APIs (including GraphQL) and underlying data models, applying solid system design and low-level design principles for scalable and maintainable services.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle for the services and UIs you build, including technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support in production environments.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers across domains to break down complex business problems into technical solutions that can be reused and extended across multiple products.
  • Implement and improve CI/CD, observability, and operational practices to ensure performance, reliability, and security of distributed systems under real-world traffic and data conditions.
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional software development experience (typically 3–6 years) building and operating production services or full stack applications.
  • Hands-on experience developing backend services in Java or Kotlin, including API design (REST or GraphQL), data modeling, and working with relational or NoSQL datastores.
  • Practical experience building web frontends using React.js and JavaScript, including integrating with backend APIs and handling client-side state and performance.
  • Proven ownership of one or more services or full stack components, including responsibility for quality, reliability, and operational support in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and evolving distributed systems and service architectures, including thoughtful low-level design, API contracts, and data schemas for performance and scalability.
  • Background operating backend-heavy, full stack systems at scale, including tuning performance, optimizing data access patterns, and improving resilience and fault tolerance.
  • Strong focus on engineering excellence, with experience implementing automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and incident response for the services you own.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to inform technical decisions, prioritize work, and validate the impact of delivered features across multiple domains or product areas.
  • Experience safely integrating AI/ML‑enabled capabilities into full stack applications (for example, using AI-assisted developer tools, recommendation or ranking services, or AI-driven personalization) and applying AI/ML concepts to improve backend workflows or frontend user experiences.
