Global Procurement manages and optimizes the third party spend of Thomson Reuters. Our mission is to partner with our stakeholders to acquire the right goods and services at best value and within an acceptable risk perimeter to drive our corporate objectives. We integrate and manage a highly complex network of products, services, processes, technologies and suppliers across all Thomson Reuters locations worldwide.
Reporting to the Senior Director IT Sourcing, the Sourcing Manager IT Sourcing will take a leadership role informing sourcing strategy and leading sourcing engagements in categories focused on software, cloud and related services, as well as technology innovation and AI. This individual will assist Business Leaders in managing their respective P&L's with regards to spending, planning, and development of supplier relationships critical to their respective lines of business.
Note: This is a Hybrid role (*mix of working from home and in the office at least 2-3 days per week)
About the Role
In this opportunity as Sourcing Manager, you will:
- Develop Category Plans and Sourcing Strategies containing a portfolio of key initiatives which deliver the IT Strategy
- Contribute to the development of the annual pipeline of IT sourcing initiatives, integrating with the financial planning process
- Instill Global Procurement Methodology, as well as proper use of Procurement Policy across the organization
- Deliver IT sourcing initiatives, achieving best value within acceptable risk
- Draft, redline and negotiate supplier contracts within Thomson Reuters’s contracting standards and business objectives
- Rationalize the number of IT suppliers and reduce fragmentation in the enterprise spend base in order to streamline and simplify the supplier landscape and drive commercial efficiency
- Collaborate with Procurement Legal, Risk Oversight Functions, Technology and Business stakeholders
- Represent Procurement in governance forums with strategic IT suppliers, build and enhance relationships with strategic IT suppliers, along with the Supplier and Service Delivery Management Teams, to deliver high levels of service whilst maintaining best-in-class commercial terms and conditions
Key Deliverables:
- Category Plans and Sourcing Strategies developed and approved by all relevant stakeholders
- High-quality collateral, Sourcing project artifacts, and negotiated supplier agreements developed and approved in accordance with the Global Procurement Methodology at each stage of the sourcing lifecycle to facilitate informed decision-making amongst the stakeholder community
- Significantly reduced third party risks with mitigation strategies for each IT sourcing initiative
- Significant and sustainable annual reduction in Thomson Reuters cost-base, demonstrated using a robust savings methodology which is consistently applied and rigorously approved
About You
You're a fit for the Sourcing Manager role if your background includes:
- At least 5+ years of experience in IT Sourcing including successful development and negotiation of IT agreements in excess of $10M value
- Proven track record of delivering significant and sustainable cost reductions through effective implementation of a coherent IT sourcing strategy
- Deep understanding of contract terms and contractual language; proven skills and experience in drafting and redlining contracts
- Good external and internal relationship management and cross-functional leadership skills
- Experienced sourcing practitioner, understanding of best-practice sourcing methodology and a demonstrated track record of working ethically to achieve excellent outcomes
- Experience of leading negotiations with major global software and cloud suppliers
- Knowledge of the sourcing marketplace and trends in the industry, as well as regulatory climate, including the ability to assess the impact of change in the context of the sourcing strategy
- Expert analytics and ability to develop coherent and high-quality sourcing collateral including business cases, contract summaries, presentations, and RFx materials
- Experience in building strong relationships with senior IT and business executives
- Bachelor’s degree, Procurement certification or equivalent experience. Experience in Technology-related fields is an asset.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For Ontario, Canada, the base compensation range for this role is $77,000 CAD - $127,000 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.About Us
