Job Description

Purpose:

The role serves as the enterprise’s strategy lead and subject matter expert on education and workforce development for artificial intelligence and enabling skills.

This role is responsible for leading AI learning efforts across the enterprise and functions, to create, implement, and ensure the co-creation of AbbVie’s mandatory and supplementary training programs .The position requires exceptional cross-functional influence without hierarchical authority, deep credibility in the learning space, a performance consulting and enterprise mindset and the ability to drive measurable business outcomes through comprehensive AI enablement initiatives, and enabling skills and behaviors partnership with others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of AbbVie’s first enterprise-wide, mandatory skill building program, identifying and prioritizing opportunities to integrate across all business functions
  • Serve as a champion for AI literacy and adoptionbuilding capability through comprehensive training, awareness, and skill development programs
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align AI learning initiatives with agreements reached by the SLT
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, driving adoption of certification through engagement campaigns and learning engagement
  • Program Development and Coordination
    • Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive learning paths for technical, professional, and human centric training across diverse employee levels and functions
    • Develop scalable training content and experiences
    • Deploy an assessment framework tailored to adult learning tied to strategic business metrics
    • Oversee housing of programing, ensuring a streamlined learner experience.
    • Build a framework that allows cross-functional collaboration and co-creation
    • Leverages key stakeholders to support the enablement of critical skills
  • Cross-Functional Influence and Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with functional training leads
    • Serve as primary liaison to external consulting partners and vendors as required
    • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure training is compliant and meets expectations
  • AI Expertise and Technology Leadership
    • Early adopter and experience in upskilling global organizations in in AI/ML frameworks, LLM models (i.e. OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini), and enterprise tools (i.e. Microsoft Copilot, cloud platforms)
  • Performance Management and Analytics
    • Define analytics requirements to monitor program adoption, measure ROI and business value, and evaluate campaign effectiveness
    • Track performance through multiple data sources, for reporting to various leadership levels including Executives
    • Develop data-driven insights to create new initiatives that maximize program value and learning effectiveness
  • Training Community Building
    • Excite the enterprise to engage through various creative solutions
    • Think like a marketer to drive adoption and behavior change
    • Provide practical support to ensure the Abbvie Learning Network acts as a community, that drives content as well as functional implementation
    • Manage AI learning communities to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and peer-to-peer learning

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, computer science, data science or related field (master’s degree or MBA preferred)

• 8-12+ years of progressive experience in learning and development, program management, or field training roles

• Proven track record of leading digital training initiatives or transformation at scale and delivering measurable business value

 

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences

• Demonstrated expertise in cross-functional influence and relationship building without hierarchical authority

• Strong program or initiative management capabilities with experience managing large, complex portfolios

• Proven change management and strategic marketing aptitude

• Bias for action with ability to work effectively under pressure and tight time constraints

 

Industry and Domain Knowledge

• Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices

• Knowledge of compliance requirements and quality standards

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this postingbased on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately paymore or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ​

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
