The Manager Operational Training plays a critical role in leading the end-to-end execution of learning and development projects delivered by Design Services. They ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while maintaining solid stakeholder engagement. The Manager Operational Training partners with instructional designers, graphic designers, subject matter experts (SMEs), program owners and business stakeholders to coordinate resources, manage timelines, mitigate risks, and uphold our service delivery promise.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Project planning & scoping
- Conduct project scoping discussions with clients and SMEs to define learning objectives, deliverables, and success metrics
- Translate client needs into detailed project charters, work breakdown structures, and timelines
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans aligned with the client's development standards
- Stakeholder management
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Facilitate project kickoff meetings, regular status updates, and review sessions
- Manage expectations, ensure alignment on milestones, and gather feedback at key points
- Team Coordination
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including SMEs, program owners, instructional designers, graphic designers, and content reviewers
- Monitor team workloads, assign tasks, and resolve resource conflicts or bottlenecks
- Foster collaboration and clear communication across all contributors
- Risk & Issue Management
- Proactively identify project risks and issues, and implement mitigation plans
- Escalate major risks or delays to leadership and provide resolution recommendations
- Track scope changes and manage change requests through a defined process
- Delivery
- Ensure deliverables are reviewed/approved by key stakeholders
- Oversee final delivery and deployment of learning assets to the appropriate platform (e.g., LMS)
- Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and client feedback
- Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for project status, scope, and decisions
- Provide regular progress reports to client leadership
Support reporting on project metrics
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regard to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Project management expertise
- Proven experience managing end-to-end learning or instructional design projects
- Solid ability to create project charters, timelines, and work breakdown structures
- Familiarity with risk and issue management processes
- Stakeholder management
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and facilitate meetings (kickoffs, status updates, reviews)
- Skilled in expectation setting and alignment across multiple stakeholders
- Team coordination
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams (SMEs, designers, reviewers)
- Ability to manage workloads and resolve resource conflicts
- Communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication for client-facing interactions and documentation
- Solid presentation and facilitation skills
- Technical proficiency
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and content deployment processes
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar)
- Reporting & documentation
- Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and provide clear progress reports
Preferred Qualifications:
- Instructional design knowledge
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)
- Experience translating learning objectives into engaging content formats
- Knowledge of emerging learning technologies (e.g., microlearning, simulations, gamification)
- Experience with authoring tools (Articulate 360, Captivate, Rise).
- Industry knowledge
- Experience in corporate learning, professional development, or healthcare tech/regulated industries
- Technical knowledge/technology awareness & understanding
- Change management
- Familiarity with organizational change principles and how learning initiatives support transformation
- Data & analytics
- Ability to analyze learning effectiveness metrics and incorporate insights into future projects
- Certifications
- PMP or other project management certifications
- ATD CPLP or similar instructional design/learning certifications
- Agile or hybrid methodologies
- Experience applying Agile principles to learning project delivery.
