As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, you will use your technical expertise and substantial experience as a practicing lawyer (Avocat) in finance law and practice in France to create and maintain insightful and customer-focused content for online publication, and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

About the role

Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Finance, you will be responsible for responsible for:

  • Researching, writing and maintaining clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.

  • Reviewing and editing content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.

  • Keeping up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.

  • Using your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.

  • Using your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.

  • Ensuring that you develop and maintain an excellent understanding of the legal market, our customers and their emerging needs, and competitors.

  • This includes: interacting effectively with customers, consultation boards and contributors; and working with all parts of the business to deliver insight into business strategies, other products, sales, marketing, and technology development.  

  • Attending training events, conferences and talks and otherwise networking with customers and potential customers and with industry leaders.

  • Helping with the development of Practical Law France and, more generally with the development of Practical Law.

  • Using your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About you

To be considered for the role of Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Finance, if you are a French qualified lawyer (Avocat) with excellent writing and communication skills in English and have:

  • At least 5 years' post-qualification experience working as a finance lawyer (Avocat) in a law firm or in-house in France.

  • Substantial experience of France finance law. 

  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.

  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.

  • A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.

  • Experience of using AI tools in legal work.

  • Excellent knowledge of online research databases.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment and proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse teams of people who bring different perspectives and lived experiences to the business.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient translation skills to effectively translate legal documentation from French to English and vice versa.

Education/Certification Required:

  • Must be French qualified.

Principales responsabilités et obligations :
En collaboration avec votre directeur, vous serez chargé(e) de :

  • Rechercher, rédiger et mettre à jour des contenus juridiques clairs, actualisés et pratiques, conformes à la pratique du marché, aux besoins des clients et aux objectifs commerciaux.
  • Relire et éditer les contenus rédigés par d'autres, qu'il s'agisse de collègues ou de contributeurs externes experts.
  • Suivre en continu les évolutions législatives, réglementaires, jurisprudentielles et du marché afin de garantir que les contenus restent précis, pertinents et conformes aux objectifs de l'entreprise.
  • Mettre à profit votre expertise juridique pour contribuer au développement de solutions juridiques pilotées par l'IA de Thomson Reuters, centrées sur les besoins des clients.
  • Utiliser vos compétences juridiques et éditoriales pour soutenir le développement et l'application d'outils éditoriaux internes fondés sur l'IA.
  • Développer et maintenir une excellente connaissance du marché juridique, de nos clients et de leurs besoins émergents, ainsi que de la concurrence. Cela inclut :
    • Interagir efficacement avec les clients, les comités de consultation et les contributeurs ;
    • Collaborer avec l'ensemble des départements de l'entreprise pour contribuer à la stratégie commerciale, aux autres produits, aux ventes, au marketing et au développement technologique.

Compétences et expériences obligatoires :


Vous êtes le/la candidat(e) idéal(e) si vous êtes avocat(e) inscrit(e) au barreau français, doté(e) d'excellentes compétences rédactionnelles et de communication en anglais, et si vous disposez :

  • D'au moins cinq ans d'expérience professionnelle post-diplôme en tant qu'avocat spécialisé en finance, au sein d'un cabinet d'avocats ou en entreprise en France.
  • D'une expérience significative en droit français des opérations de financement.
  • D'excellentes compétences rédactionnelles et de communication en anglais, ainsi que d'une passion pour l'écriture juridique précise, concise et claire.
  • D'un état d'esprit collaboratif, avec la capacité de travailler efficacement de manière autonome et en équipe.
  • De solides compétences techniques et de la capacité à utiliser efficacement divers outils, notamment les technologies d'intelligence artificielle générative, afin d'améliorer la productivité et la précision.
  • D'une grande adaptabilité et souplesse pour intervenir sur des projets variés, tant dans le domaine de l'IA générative que sur les nouvelles technologies émergentes.
  • D'un esprit curieux, notamment quant à l'intersection croissante entre l'IA et la pratique du droit, ainsi que d'une ouverture au changement.
