Skills and Competencies
  • 5–9 years of professional experience as a Senior Data Engineer, or Senior Database Engineer, delivering large scale, production grade data systems.
  • Expert level SQL skills with strong proficiency in Python, Java, C#, or Scala for building high performance backend and data solutions.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and Snowflake, and NoSQL databases including MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
  • Hands on experience designing and operating cloud based data platforms on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Deep understanding of database architecture, data modeling, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization at scale.
  • Ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and drive best practices across data and software engineering teams.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing scalable data services.
  • Strong data modeling expertise, including Star Schema, Data Vault, and dimensional modeling.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with data quality, observability, monitoring, and lineage tools in production environments.
Education
  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or relevant degree.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and optimization of secure, scalable databases and data pipelines powering analytics and mission critical applications.
  • Architect, design, and maintain high performance SQL and NoSQL database schemas supporting analytics, applications, and data science workloads.
  • Drive database performance optimization through advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and configuration management.
  • Build and scale robust ETL / ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, validating, and serving large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Integrate internal and external systems using APIs and cloud data services across platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
  • Lead the implementation of data security, governance, and compliance controls, including encryption, identity and access management, and adherence to GDPR and CCPA.
  • Partner closely with software engineers, data scientists, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable, business critical data solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, design guidance, and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Proactively identify and resolve complex data and performance issues, improving system reliability and scalability.
