The Department
Invesco understands data and the products created from data are the lifeblood of our business and has established cultivates global Enterprise Data & Analytics Office (EDAO). EDAO is a linchpin of an ecosystem of data-first functions that will work together seamlessly to enable Invesco to achieve the true value of data and data products. EDAO will empower Invesco to leverage data as a strategic asset by making quality, trusted data and content available to the right people, at the right time, in the right format, in the most efficient way possible to enable both large transformations and day-to-day operations.
The Master Data Management (MDM) function is responsible for developing and executing Invesco's master data management strategy at the business and enterprise levels, ensuring consistency and integrity across our data assets.
Your Role
Manager, Master Data Management will be a hands-on, collaborative leader who has advanced subject matter expertise in his/her area or process. This individual has a strong understanding of EDAO, overall data ecosystem, the firm and competitive environment. They have an execution-focused mindset and drives strong performance not only for themselves but for their team.
He or she not only manages a team, but also leads major projects within their area of expertise and makes significant contributions that positively impact EDAO.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing support for various Master Data Domains
- Leading a team(s) of Data Stewards and other data professionals
- Consistently making proactive suggestions in regards to product usability, presentation, and data quality
- Defining, standardizing, measuring, and monitoring data quality metrics. Develops reports/dashboards that enable data quality health checks by senior leaders.
- Completing analysis, including requirement definition, data mapping, trend analysis and root cause analysis of issues.
- Providing business analysis and bridge the domain gap between functional teams and technology teams with solutions.
- Working closely with Data Product owners to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.
- Working closely with key stakeholders and data product owners to create/maintain stewardship processes and define SLAs to meet evolving business needs.
- Implementing DQ monitoring per business rules and create associated remediation workflow
- Partnering with the data product owners to maintain the product roadmap and forecast resource needs and milestones
- Addressing complex data issues escalated by junior associates, requiring expertise in data, systems, and business
- Coaching and mentoring; set goals and help each team member translate that into individual performance goals
- Driving operational excellence and success of the team
- Iteratively improve processes and quantify success; suggest people, process, and technology changes to result in higher efficiency and accuracy. Able to identify tools and best practices to continaully evolve the Invesco stewardship practice.
- Work with leadership to define the team vision; engage and motivate team members to achieve that vision
The experience you bring:
- 10+ years of data management and/or business analysis experience, with increasing seniority, in a global organization
- 2+ years of prior people leadership experience
- Ability to work independently and make judgements within define policies
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to forge and leverage strong business relationships with partners
- Comfort in dealing with ambiguity
- Advanced level SQL and Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information
- Knowledge of data, analysis and processes for relevant asset classes and products
- Technical and business background with experience in investments data; specifically asset management and/or financial services industry data is a plus
- Knowledge of data management systems and best practices. Ability to drive execution of the strategy.
- Ability to apply innovative ideas and measure their effectiveness
- Experience with additional data analysis tools such as VBA, Python, Alteryx, or PowerBI is a plus
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related field
