Job Description

We seek a Scientist II, Analytical Development to join an experienced, fast-paced and collaborative team. This position will be primarily responsible for supporting characterization of AbbVie’s mRNA-based targeted lipid nanoparticles (tLNPs) pipeline. This role will focus on executing testing methods for characterizing mRNA/tLNPs and supporting development of new tLNP characterization methods. Working collaboratively across the discovery research team, this position will support process/product characterization, expansion of the mRNA/tLNP pipeline, method development, and platform development.
 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Independently perform HPLC, CE, and plate-based assay testing of mRNA and tLNP products for characterizing content, purity/impurities, and integrity
  • Support development of novel nanoparticle characterization techniques, including but not limited to MALLS, mass photometry, etc
  • Re-optimize analytical methods to support new programs and platform improvements
  • Improve routine assay efficiency through automation and assay/workflow improvements
  • Author technical reports and documents as needed

Qualifications

  • Generally met with a Master’s with 5+ years experience or Bachelor’s with 7+ years of experience
  • Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related field with experience testing and developing analytical characterization methods for biologics (e.g. antibodies, mRNA, etc) is required
  • Experience with nanoparticle and/or small molecule characterization is preferred
  • Experience with HPLC, Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), and plate-based assays required
  • Proficiency authoring and reviewing technical reports
  • Experience with stability and comparability studies is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated capacity to thrive in collaborative, team-driven environments.
