The Trip Management team builds customer-facing systems that support travelers throughout their post-booking journey. We focus on developing highly scalable, reliable, and extensible services that power millions of trips globally and enable seamless travel experiences across web and mobile platforms.
Our mission is to deliver a unified, one-stop destination where travelers can easily access all their trip-related information and take meaningful actions in one place. From itinerary management and booking modifications to real-time updates and personalized recommendations, we are transforming the post-booking experience into a comprehensive travel companion that supports customers at every stage of their journey.
We build and operate distributed services using Java, Kotlin, DynamoDB, Redis, and Kafka, while following strong engineering practices to enable rapid iteration and maintain high reliability, performance, and operational excellence at scale.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and actively contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, analysis, development, and deployment efforts for applications to tackle complex business problems.
- Drive technical architecture decisions that ensure long-term maintainability, performance, and platform scalability.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to deliver seamless customer experiences.
- Design and integrate backend systems, APIs, databases, and messaging platforms to deliver complete solutions.
- Champion engineering best practices: clean architecture, testability, observability, accessibility, and performance optimization.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Advocate for operational excellence, including unit testing, resiliency, SLAs, monitoring, and alerting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years professional software development experience (Bachelor's) or 6+ years (Master's).
- Demonstrated ability to design complex systems, make sound architectural decisions, and influence across teams.
- Proficient in backend technologies (Java, Kotlin, GraphQL/RESTful APIs) with hands-on experience leading the end-to-end technical design of multiple backend projects.
- Experience with distributed systems technologies such as Kafka, Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and observability tools like DataDog and Splunk.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to justify technical decisions to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development, refactoring, debugging, and documentation.
- Experience working effectively in decentralized or geographically distributed teams.
- Strong understanding of operational excellence: testing strategies, monitoring, and alerting.
