    As a Principal Software Developer, you will drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver solutions that empower our customers to design and build a better world. You’ll collaborate with talented colleagues worldwide, leverage cutting-edge technologies—including AI—and play a key role in advancing industry-leading products.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the design, development, and delivery of sophisticated features across desktop applications, components, and cloud services

    • Collaborate closely with product owners, designers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions that drive product excellence

    • Embrace Agile and LEAN methodologies as an active member of a Scrum team, driving continuous improvement

    • Architect and evaluate technical solutions, fostering innovation and best practices across the team

    • Mentor and coach junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and elevate the technical proficiency of the team

    • Engage in cross-team collaborations, influencing technical direction and ensuring alignment with organizational goals

    • Proactively learn and share new technologies, cultivating a culture of growth and technical excellence

    • Stay current with the latest AI trends and actively contribute ideas for integrating AI into our products and workflows that create tangible value for customers

    • Drive engineering efficiency through automation, process optimization, and tool development

    • Gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve product quality and user experience

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in software engineering or equivalent

    • Proven experience as a technical lead in large-scale software development, preferably in commercial product teams, with successful completion of several full development cycles

    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of making impactful technical decisions

    • Advanced programming skills in C++ and extensive experience with Visual Studio toolsets

    • Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD)

    • Excellent analytical and product-level design skills

    • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of independently resolving complex system issues

    • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline design, and test automation

    • Experience working in scaled Scrum teams with multiple groups collaborating on shared deliverables

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and drive project progress

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with C#, .NET, Python

    • Background or education in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry

    • Familiarity with computational geometry

    • Experience with cloud services is a plus

    • Knowledge of web technologies

    • Understanding of deployment methodologies, including installation and CI/CD workflows

    • Knowledge of databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, SQLite)

    • Practical experience with AI technologies, frameworks, or platforms

    Salary transparency

    Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,500 and $180,840. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
