Job Description

Purpose:

The National Medical Outcomes Science Liaison, Oncology (National Onc MOSL) is a national field-based scientific expert responsible for engaging national oncology healthcare access decision makers (HCDMs) through credible, non-promotional, outcomes-focused scientific exchange. The role integrates clinical evidence, real-world data, and health economics and outcomes research to inform product access and population-level decision making, evidence needs, and AbbVie medical planning.

Responsibilities:

  • The National Onc MOSL proactively identifies key national oncology healthcare decision makers (HCDMs), serves as the primary medical liaison between AbbVie and HCDMs, builds strong relationships to understand customer needs, and facilitates generation of real-world evidence (RWE) consistent with approved therapeutic area medical planning. The National MOSL represents an advanced level of the MOSL role, advancing field scientific strategies and serving as a role model to field medical peers.
  • Serves as the Medical lead within the integrated account team for assigned account, playing an integral role in appropriate planning, strategy development and execution.
  • Serve at a management/leadership level in oncology therapeutic area and healthcare landscape strategic planning and issue resolution; this may include serving as a given field therapeutic area or channel sponsor, participating in cross-functional strategic meetings and regularly interfacing with key internal stakeholders. 
  • Provide advanced, customized communication of scientific, health outcomes, and health policy information to HCDMs and influencers.  Document and communicate meaningful observations which lead to Scientific Intelligence on a regular basis. Identify relevant emerging scientific, health economic, and health policy trends and integrate gaps/learnings into functional strategy and objectives. 
  • Primary interface and initial point of contact for large-scale, RWE opportunities with national level HCDMs. 
  • Anticipate, identify and address population-level scientific, outcomes research, and health policy needs of customers serving as the trusted advisor to the customer.  Leverage internal and external resources to meet customer needs. 
  • Facilitate scientific exchange, as necessary, between AbbVie senior Medical Leadership, including Medical Affairs and Health Impact (MHI), TA Medical Directors, and HEOR with senior leaders from priority accounts to support internal and external customer objectives. 
  • Maintain and continually enhance clinical, scientific, and healthcare landscape expertise.  Participate in various therapeutic advisory activities involving both marketed and investigational products, spanning the full product life-cycle. 
  • Train, coach, and mentor new and current MOSLs in their advancement within their role and scope of activity. Provide guidance and strategic direction to MOSLs with accounts affiliated with key access organizations supported by the National MOSL.  

This role can be remote in the US.


Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree required (Pharm.D., M.D., D.O., Ph.D. or equivalent)
  • The position requires extensive experience in Managed Care, healthcare consulting, oncology pathways, pharmaceutical industry, medical affairs or related environment. Completion of relevant residency or fellowship programs may be considered in lieu of some work experience. Account management experience preferred. 
  • Advanced scientific and business acumen. Includes sophisticated understanding of the healthcare landscape. 
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership, executive presence, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Innovative problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. 
  • Self-motivated and solution oriented.
  • Advanced ability to network and collaborate effectively across multiple levels within an organization.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this postingbased on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more orless than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ​

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​
