Financial Analyst - OPEX

At Realtor.com® (“RDC”), our goal is to build a highly skilled Finance team that provides rigorous financial insights, contextualized by our company strategies, to every corner of the business. Finance at Realtor.com® goes beyond reporting - we deep-dive into modeling, value-driving analytics, and telling the story behind the numbers. Our team serves as trusted financial advisors to business leaders, helping them make informed decisions that drive growth.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an AI-native, technically-savvy and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to serve on our FP&A team. This role will partner with our Technology organization and is responsible for managing the complexities of a high-volume P&L, and ensuring cross-functional alignment. We are looking for an AI-forward professional who views manual data entry as a problem to be solved and is eager to implement AI-assisted efficiencies to increase our team’s analytical bandwidth.

Reporting to the FP&A Manager, you will focus on maintaining the integrity and precision of our financial engine. While this position is foundational in its operational scope, we offer a clear path for professional development, with opportunities to take on broader business partnership responsibilities and strategic exposure as you master the core Tech P&L.

What You’ll Do

Financial Operations & Coordination

  • Own the Tech P&L: Manage the budget, outlook, and forecast for Headcount, Capitalized Labor, HWSW, Consulting, Global Tech charges, and other P&L accounts.
  • Headcount & Workforce Management: Partner with the HR Business Partner, Tech Recruiters, FP&A Position Management owner, and Chief of Staff to maintain a real-time pulse on open positions, attrition, and new hires. You will be responsible for updating the P&L forecast to reflect the latest hiring timelines.
  • Month-End Precision: Coordinate closely with Accounting on month-end entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy before the books close.
  • Vendor & Renewal Alignment: Partner with Strategic Sourcing to track renewals; identify if we are in-line with the budget or if overages require mitigation.
  • Contractor Management: Serve as the primary finance contact for Tech Business Partners regarding contractor budget changes, including reviewing and approving requests through our contractor management software.

  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Execute expense deep-dives and provide data-driven support for funding requests.

Reporting & Insights

  • Month-End Packages: Produce and distribute customized month-end reporting packages for each of the tech organization leaders, translating complex data into actionable insights they can use to manage their departments.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct deep-dive variance reporting (Actuals vs. Budget/Outlook) to identify emerging trends, financial risks, and savings opportunities.
  • The "Why" Behind the Numbers: Assist in developing budget and outlook presentations that don't just show data, but tell the story of the changes in our financial landscape.

AI-Forward Process Improvement

  • Workflow Optimization: Audit existing Google Sheets and Adaptive Insights workflows to identify manual bottlenecks. You will be responsible for building the templates, and automated links that increase team speed and data integrity.
  • AI Implementation and modernization: Actively explore and implement AI-native workflows to move us away from "business as usual" reporting.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with 2–4 years of experience in FP&A or Corporate Finance. (Tech/SaaS P&L experience is a major plus).
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel and experience with Oracle and Adaptive Insights.
  • AI-Forward Mindset: A demonstrated interest in automation; you should be comfortable using AI tools and logic to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to "zoom in and out" of data, maintaining extreme detail-orientation while connecting the dots to the larger financial landscape.
  • Communication: Strong skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance partners.
  • Analytical Rigor: A track record of managing high-volume data without sacrificing accuracy.

Location & Flexibility

We balance accelerated creativity and innovation on a foundation of in-person collaboration and flexibility, from inside and outside of our office walls. This is a hybrid role; one can work three days of their choice in our Austin, TX office and the remaining two days from home.
