POSITION SUMMARY: 
Sr. Engineering Project Manager (PM) is the voice of the project and drives organizational decision-making to bring in the right cross-functional support for project execution. The PM is responsible for providing technical leadership coaching and managing resources by identifying, developing and executing capital projects for the factories.  This position will manage resources that handle the design process and assure adherence to all established key components and project deliverables as well as directly manage overall project execution including construction and commissioning.  Additionally, this position will coordinate with the client, as well as various other groups inside and outside of the organization. 
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Project Management/Leadership: Team is responsible for project management of cross-functional teams such as operations, quality assurance, engineering, maintenance, safety promoting a team-building atmosphere.  Own the definition and communication of project scope, objectives and expectations and will communicate project status using strong oral, written, and presentation skills to senior management levels.  Build and manage the project timeline, define the critical path, supervise activities to ensure functional team members are meeting agreed upon deadlines, generating and communicating status reports, and calling out critical issues will be some of the main drivers in this exciting and important opportunity. 
  • Consulting with equipment and ingredient vendors on design and quality improvements, respectively, while also being responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting bench top, pilot plant, and manufacturing plant trials.  Responsible to upscale for manufacturing and to foresee processing risks and opportunities and will handle parallel and sequential project tasks. You will be able to quickly identify and accurately communicate project costs, timing, and risks.  Managing partners at different levels of the organization and providing transparency and communication on project status and risks to cross-functional business partners and business Leadership Team will be critical. 
  • Assist in development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate and milestone schedule creation. 
  • Monitor design progress and deliverables are met in adherence to established project key components. 
  • Receive design details from design team with full understanding of project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution. 
  • Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering ways of working methodology. 
  • Manage data collection and feedback process for projects. 
  • Monitors processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations.   
  • Provide construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution 
  • Evaluate, select, and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and prequalification vetting processes. 
  • Provide self-directed project management of assigned projects from end to end with minimal supervision from department manager.    
      

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor of Science in technical function required, preferably Engineering 
  • Project management certification or equivalent a plus. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Idea to launch process 

  
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing capital projects of $15M+, with increasing responsibility and complexity in a manufacturing environment required, preferably food manufacturing  
  • Preferred: 7+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment 
  • Preferred: Experience using SAP and/or Microsoft Project 
  • Preferred: TPM experience 
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills 
  • Ability to analyze data 
  • Ability to using problem solving techniques to resolve issues and implement change 
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.   
  • Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment.  
  • Ability to schedule resources effectively so continuous improvement is not sacrificed for day to day results. 
  • Additional consideration for those that are considered subject matter experts in a particular field of engineering (process, packaging, refrigeration, etc.) 
  • Ability to coach and develop resources in leadership and I & I pillar 

The approximate pay range for this position is $139,000 to $187,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
