About the Role
In this opportunity as Technical Engineering Manager, you will:
Manage and develop a highly effective and motivated team with clearly defined objectives aligned to the overall objectives of data management services.
Bring key domain and platform knowledge in house to strengthen Thomson Reuters' ability to deliver high quality master data.
Provide technical leadership across data engineering, MDM integration, and cloud (AWS), balancing hands-on guidance with people leadership.
Own day-to-day vendor relationships and ensure effective management of maintenance and support contracts.
Manage capacity, expectations, and schedules, ensuring that plans and budgets are well-grounded and continuously updated.
Plan work, assign internal and augmented staff, develop team members, and conduct appraisals.
Ensure adherence to data protection policies, operational standards, and change management procedures.
Serve as Incident Commander for major incidents in your area; drive rapid recovery and post-incident learning.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Technical Engineering Manager if your background includes:
3+ years of experience in people management leading data, platform, or business-process engineering teams.
8+ years in data/platform engineering or adjacent technical roles with deep expertise in SQL and data platforms.
Hands-on experience with AWS and at least one of Python or Java
Proven track record working with vendors/partners and integration platforms (e.g., APIs, event streams, iPaaS).
Strong understanding of business systems and how data quality, governance, and MDM impact customer and product outcomes.
Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and ability to lead through ambiguity.
Experience with MDM and data governance tools (e.g., Enterworks, Semarchy, Informatica, Alation).
Experience with AWS data services (e.g., Glue, Lambda, S3, Step Functions, Redshift) and streaming (Kafka/Kinesis).
Familiarity with ITIL/ServiceNow, incident response, and operations.
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
