This role sits at the intersection of Sales (pre-sales solutioning and scoping), Product/Engineering (solution feasibility and roadmap influence), and Delivery (implementation and custom build execution).
About the Role
In this opportunity as an Director, you will:
Key Responsibilities
1) Services Business & P&L Ownership
- Own the Professional Services P&L ($7.5M): bookings/revenue, gross margin, utilization, and delivery cost structure.
- Build annual delivery plan: hiring plan, capacity model, pricing/packaging recommendations, and revenue growth initiatives.
- Establish forecasting discipline: pipeline-to-capacity planning, services backlog visibility, and risk-based delivery projections.
2) Custom Solution Development (Sellable Solutions)
- Lead the creation of customer-funded custom solutions that are (a) commercially scoped, (b) technically sound, and (c) reusable where possible as accelerators/templates.
- Partner with Sales to shape deals: discovery, solution design, sizing/estimation, and SOW development (scope, assumptions, acceptance criteria, and change control).
3) Delivery Excellence (Implementation + Technical Execution)
- Own end-to-end delivery across implementations, integrations, data migrations, and custom builds.
- Implement delivery standards: project governance, QA, documentation, release/change management, and customer readiness.
- Drive consistent on-time/on-budget performance and strong customer satisfaction.
4) Leadership & Org Management (Team of ~20)
- Lead and develop a multi-discipline org (e.g., solution architects, technical consultants, integration engineers, quality engineers).
- Set clear role definitions, career progression plans, performance expectations, and coaching expectations.
- Build a culture of high accountability, learning, and customer focus.
5) Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Product/Engineering and Service Management to:
- Feed field learnings into roadmap priorities
- Improve deployability/supportability of the product
- Establish technical guardrails for customization and extensions
- Partner with Customer Success/Support to ensure clean handoffs, operational readiness, and renewal/expansion enablement.
6) Metrics, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Manage and report on:
- Revenue, utilization, realization, and backlog management
- Delivery health (schedule variance, scope changes, defect escape rates)
- Customer outcomes (time-to-value, CSAT/NPS, adoption metrics)
- Continuously improve tooling, templates, and methods to scale delivery efficiently.
About You
You're a strong fit for the role of Director if your background includes:
- 10+ years in Professional Services / Implementation / Solutions Delivery in a product-based B2B software or information services company.
- 5+ years leading managers and multi-discipline teams; experience leading organizations at ~25–50 people scale.
- Demonstrated ownership of services financials (budgeting, margin, utilization); P&L ownership strongly preferred.
- Proven experience scoping and delivering complex enterprise engagements:
- discovery → solution design → estimation → SOW → delivery → go-live
- Strong technical fluency in modern enterprise software concepts (APIs/integrations, data flows, security/compliance considerations, cloud deployment patterns).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating repeatable packaged offerings (accelerators, industry templates, migration bundles, integration kits).
- Background in regulated / risk / legal / tax / financial services workflows (or similarly compliance-heavy enterprise environments).
- Familiarity with common PS operating models (time & materials, fixed fee, success-based milestones) and change control.
What Success Looks Like (first 6–12 months)
- Services P&L is predictable: improved forecasting, utilization stability, and margin performance.
- Delivery performance improves: fewer escalations, more consistent on-time delivery, clearer scope/change control.
- At least 2–4 repeatable "custom solution packages" are defined (pricing, scope boundaries, delivery playbooks).
- Stronger Sales + PS motion: faster scoping cycles, higher attach rate, smoother handoffs, and better customer outcomes.
